Washington Head Coach June Daughtery
General Comments: "Congratulations to Creighton, we wish them all the best as they continue in the tournament. They're a tough ball club, they have a lot of weapons, and they bring a tough offense. The game was close back and forth the difference was that we didn't do well in our dribble penetration, they were able to get to the line a little bit more because of that. We didn't play real great the first half, I thought we came back and got going a little bit, but if you can't stop them to going to the basket, it makes for a tough night. It's disappointing to lose this was, but I'm really proud of the season that they've had. It was a huge challenge with the lack of bodies, but we got better, this loss does not diminish what we have done as a team and these four seniors leave a huge legacy. We have a lot of work to do as coaches and underclassmen to live up to it because they've been nothing short of phenomenal."
On Creighton spreading the floor: "They went to a four guard offense, we were getting beat one-on-one which is tough."
On the seniors: "I'm just unbelievably proud of this group, they've had a lot of adversity, but they're found the strength to put that on the backburner and keep leading and improving, I think they've had an amazing career here. They walked out here as freshmen and took us to the Elite Eight that year. They just kept working and kept improving individually and as a team. I don't think there's a finer group of young people who have come through here and done what they have done. It would have been great to go deeper in the postseason, but they did everything that they could carrying this team into the postseason and their leadership will be one of the strongest part of their legacy that they'll leave behind."
Washington Forward Andrea Lalum
On second half challenges: "They challenged me more in the second half, but I just wanted to play inside and out. In the first half I hit stuff outside, but we needed help inside, so I wanted to mix it up and let other people get in there."
On playing from behind: "There was a lot of letdown and it seemed like there were a lot of open shots. They're great shooters and we knew that coming in, I think we needed more depth defensively. We did all right on offense, but defense is what cost us the game."
On the team's letdown from Friday: "It was kind of a letdown because when we were down one or two points it seemed like we would try to build back up and before you knew it we were down four again. It was frustrating out there offensively, but that was something we needed to put past us. I think the first half is what killed us because we got into a hole and we couldn't get back out."
