With the win, Washington advances to the second round of the WNIT, where they will face Pac-10 rival USC, Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Bank of America Arena. The Huskies won both matchups against the Trojans this year, including an 80-79 overtime victory in Seattle on Jan. 6.
True freshman Kayla Burt earned her first career start and finished with seven points and four rebounds.
Redshirt freshman Sarah Keeler tied for the team lead with six rebounds, one week after grabbing a career high seven boards in a Pac-10 tournament loss against Oregon. She also scored her first career three pointer at 10:35 in the second half.
Washington's 49 rebounds were its most since Feb. 3, when they pulled down 50 boards in a 68-48 win at UCLA.
The Huskies' 76 field goal attempts and 30 three point attempts, each tying for its second most in 2001-02.
Washington's defense forced 25 North Texas turnovers and held the Lady Eagles to just one of 14 shooting (.071) from three point range.
Kristen O'Neill added five steals to her team-leading total of 52 entering today's game. O'Neill owns the top four single game steals marks for Washington this season.
After Washington took a 42-17 half time lead, North Texas mounted a 26-13 run to close within 12 at 11:29. The Huskies however, held the Lady Eagles to just 18 points the rest of the way, to preserve the 82-61 victory.
