2018: Limited to just four meets during his senior season, two indoors and two outdoors … indoors, helped the Huskies win the 4x400-meter relay title at the MPSF Championships in a time of 3:09.57, running the second leg … also ran on the 4x4 that won the Don Kirby Invite in 3:09.68, giving the group the Nos. 6 and 7 times in school history … outdoors, raced the 200-meters at the Trojan Invitational, taking sixth in 21.45 and helped the 4x100m relay take third in 41.09 … ran on both relays at the Texas Relays, the 4x1 clocking 41.51 and the 4x4 running 3:12.62.
2017: Following the collegiate season, competed at the European U23 Championships for Italy, where he was ninth in the 200-meter semifinals in 21.02 seconds, a collegiate wind-legal best ... that 21.02 time ties for ninth on the Husky outdoor top-10 ... also took fourth at the Italian Senior Championships in the 200m in 20.82 just slightly wind-aided at +2.2 ... enjoyed his best collegiate season to date, getting back to the finals of the Pac-12 Championships and advancing to NCAA West Preliminaries for the first time as an individual at 200-meters and as part of the 4x400-meter relay … ran his fastest time ever in the Pac-12 finals, 20.97 seconds, despite a slight tailwind at 2.8, to finish sixth-place, after he had won his preliminary heat in 21.05 seconds … reached the Pac-12 podium with the 4x4 relay as the group ran a season-best 3:08.42 to finish third … also ran on the 4x100m relay that placed sixth in 40.93 seconds … at NCAA West Prelims he finished 28th overall in the 200-meters in 21.05, and the 4x4 relay was 21st with a time of 3:10.16 … helped both relays defeat the Cougars in the UW-WSU Dual meet, running the second leg of the 4x4 that got the close victory to clinch the team win ... ran on 4x4 that was sixth at the Mt. SAC Relays invite section in 3:08.45 … indoors, broke into the top-10 list up to No. 5 as he ran 21.34 seconds to place fifth in the 200m at the MPSF Championships … also got the overall victory at the Husky Classic with a then-PR of 21.36 seconds … earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention as well as USTFCCCA All-Academic.
2016: Sophomore season was highlighted by an All-America First Team indoor campaign as part of the Husky distance medley relay … outdoors, ran at the Pac-12 Championships at 400-meters, finishing 10th with a time of 48.25 seconds … outdoor season-best of 47.66 tied for best on the team and came at the Pepsi Team Invite where he was runner-up … opened outdoors with a 200m time of 21.42 seconds to take fourth at the Pac-12 vs Big Ten Invite … a busy indoor season, reaching the NCAA Indoor Championships as the 400-meter leg on the Husky distance medley relay, and earning All-America First Team honors as the relay finished second overall in 9:28.00 ... the DMR finish was best in school history, and the time was the fastest for a runner-up in meet history ... ran the 400m leg on the DMR at the Alex Wilson Invite, as the Huskies broke the school record and ran the eighth-fastest time in NCAA history with a 9:27.19 to reach nationals ... had a new indoor 400-meter PR of 47.83 at the MPSF Championships, finishing ninth ... ran on UW’s top 4x400m relay, which posted a time of 3:11.71 to win the Husky Classic ... had a 200-meter time of 21.71 seconds at the High Performance Meet #4 in Portland, taking second ... a season-best time in the 60m of 6.91 at the UW Invitational ... earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2015: A strong first season as he was part of a pair of third-place relays at the Pac-12 Championships and made the 200-meters final … at the Pac-12 meet at UCLA, he reached the podium twice as the 4x100m relay ran 40.11 seconds to take third, and then the 4x400m squad also finished third with a season-best 3:10.96 … made the Pac-12 final at 200-meters, running 21.41 in the prelims and then finishing ninth in the final in 21.54 seconds ... qualified for the NCAA West Prelims as the third leg on the 4x100m relay, finishing 18th overall in Austin in 40.48 seconds … was third in both the 100-meters and 200-meters at the UW-WSU Dual, running season-bests in both, clocking 10.63 seconds in the 100m and 21.33 in the 200m … part of the winning 4x100m relay group at the Pepsi Team Invitational in Eugene, running 40.33 and was fifth in the 200-meters in 21.86 … indoors, ran a best 200-meters of 21.61 seconds at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic and had a fastest 60-meters of 6.90 at the Husky Classic … part of the top indoor 4x400m relay, which won the UW Invitational in 3:12.43 ... named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
High School and Personal: Born in Domodossola, Italy … parents are Simonetta Mocellini and Mauro Spanò … has one older sister, Greta, and one younger sister, Gloria … attended one year of high school at Woods Cross in Utah as a foreign exchange student before finishing high school back home in Italy … in his one season in Utah, he managed to win three 4A state track titles at 100-meters with a time of 10.77 seconds, 200-meters in 21.68, and the long jump at 22-1 ½ … competed at the 2014 World Junior Outdoor Championships held in Eugene, Ore., finishing 14th overall in the 200-meter semifinals for Italy, and posting a PR of 20.98 seconds in the semis after running 21.04 in the first round … also ran on the 4x100m relay for Italy at World Juniors … won the 2014 Italian junior national title at 200-meters with a time of 21.37 seconds … the 2014 European Indoor Junior Champion at 200-meters in 21.49 seconds … set the Utah state record in the 200-meters with a season-best of 21.41 … also helped the 4x100m relay win the Utah state title in 2013 and led the team to the overall team title … set a 400m best of 48.75 at a meet in Italy in June of 2013 … long jump PR of 23-0 ½ in 2012 in Italy … has also run a 60-meters indoor best of 6.91 seconds.
