2020: Did not get to compete in his final season with the cancelation of the outdoor season due to COVID-19 β¦ a Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll selection.
2019: Improved his personal-best in the javelin and advanced to a second NCAA West Preliminary β¦ opened his sophomore season with a PR of 216-7 at the Stanford Invitational to take third β¦ second in the javelin at the UW-WSU Dual with a toss of 211-3 β¦ was 10th at the Pac-12 Championships with a mark of 195-10 β¦ tossed 212-0 at the National Relays in Arkansas for seventh β¦ finished 34th overall at the West Prelims in Sacramento at 197-1.
2018: Completed his first full season in the javelin, qualifying for the NCAA West Preliminary Championships β¦ big breakthrough came at the UW-WSU Dual where he took third in the javelin with a PR of 11 feet, throwing 207-1 β¦ was 47th at West Prelims with a mark of 183-7 β¦ competed at the Pac-12 Championships, throwing 184-10 for 13th β¦ fifth in the javelin at the Pepsi Team Invite going 190-1 β¦ first meet in uniform was the Trojan Invitational where he threw 190-0 for fourth β¦ named USTFCCCA All-Academic ... a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2017: Redshirted his first season throwing the javelin β¦ ended his year competing at the U.S. Junior Championships and had a season-best at that meet of 196-feet for eighth-place β¦ took second, competing unattached, at the Ken Shannon Invite, throwing 193-0 β¦ also threw 188-7 at the OSU High Performance Meet unattached.
High School and Personal: Born in Washington β¦ parents are Karyn and Robert Wachtendonk β¦ has two older sisters, Megan and Rachel β¦ Megan was a UW graduate in 2016 β¦ two-time KingCo and district champion in the javelin throw β¦ placed fifth at the 4A state meet as a senior and seventh as a junior in the javelin β¦ top throw of 194-5 as a senior ranked third overall in Washington state β¦ also lettered two years in football and was the student-athlete of the year for basketball in 2012 β¦ high school student-athlete of the year in 2016 β¦ played tenor saxophone all four years of high school as part of jazz band that finished sixth in the nation at the Essentially Ellington jazz band competition β¦ graduated with a 3.92 grade point average.
