Huskies Fall to Michigan in Easter Sunday Match
April 05, 2026 | Men's Tennis
SEATTLE - The University of Washington Men's Tennis Team dropped a conference match 4-2 to No. 45 Michigan this afternoon. With this result, Washington is now (8-13) on the season and (2–7) from Big Ten play. The Huskies will return to play next weekend, with another road trip that will see the Dawgs face off against Penn State on Friday, April 10th and Ohio State on Sunday, April 12th.
From Doubles, the Wolverine's did not start their No. 10 ranked duo instead opting to split the pair for the match against the Huskies. This decision proved costly for Michigan as the Huskies would capture the point from a Soham Purohit & Brett Pearson win from the No. 1, followed by a point clinching win from Stephane Kamendje & Rohan Belday at the No. 3. This would lead the Huskies into an impressive showing in singles with a 1-0 advantage.

Moving to the singles matchups, Nikola Plavsic would again make the start, his fifth at the No. 6, taking over for Daniel Bien who was sidelined this weekend with a lower body injury. Soham Purohit and Stephane Kamendje would each face a tough draw in singles as they both took on ranked competition, with Soham facing the No. 10 player Max Dahlin and Stephane facing the No. 86 player Bjorn Swenson.
Nikola Plavsic and Brett Pearson would start off strong from the first set, as they were the lone Huskies to start off with a set win. Of note, Rohan Belday commanded a lead for the majority of the first set, however he ultimately dropped the set by way of a 7-6 tiebreak.
Set two would see Hyeonseok Seo capture a win to force a third set, with a 6-1 win. Within set two multiple huskies would drop the set, forcing three more third set matches against the Wolverines. However in the second set, we would see the ranked opponents gain their first two points of the match, with wins over the Huskies top two positions.
From set three, Hyeonseok Seo would even the score with another win of his own by a 6-1, to move the Dawgs to an even 2-2 with Michigan. However, in the final three matches of the day Michigan would go to win two back-to-back forcing the 4-2 final scoreline, and leaving Rohan Belday stranded 3-4 in his own third set thriller.
