
Huskies Set to Take on Penn State and No. 2 Ohio State in Penultimate Regular Season Series

SEATTLE - The University of Washington Men's Tennis Team (8-13) heads back out on the road this weekend, with action looming against Penn State (14-10) and against No. 2 Ohio State (21-3). The Huskies will look to continue to improve in this weekend matchup before returning for the final homestand of the season next weekend. The matchup against the Penn State Nittany Lions is set to take place Friday, April 10th, at 2 pm PT | 5 pm local from the Sarni Tennis Center, while the match against No. 2 Ohio State is scheduled for Sunday, April 12th, at 9 am PT | 12 pm local from the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.

Husky History against the Nittany Lions
This will be the third meeting in series history between the Huskies and Penn State, with the series favoring the Huskies 2-0. In last seasons's matchup, the Huskies would best State 6-1, with both Soham Purohit and Rohan Belday contributing points in the win. Prior to last years 6-1 win, the two schools last met in the 2005 NCAA Tournament First Round where the Huskies led by Alex Slovic, would win 4-2 with Klaus Jank clinching the match in a third set tie-break match, 7-6(6).
Husky History against the Buckeyes
In the second match of the weekend, the Huskies have top ranked Ohio State for the now eighth matchup in school history. The Buckeyes currently hold a 6-1 lead in a series they have won six in a row dating back to the 2004-05 season, when current assistant coach Christoph Palmanshofer, clinched the match win for the Huskies with a victory over the No. 40 ranked single, after helping secure the doubles point with an upset over the then ranked No. 28 pair. Last season's match saw Ohio State win 4-1, with the lone Husky point coming from a Cesar Bouchelaghem upset win over No. 50 Alexander Bernard.
Husky Stats of Note
After being missing from a single ITA rankings cycle, Soham Purohit and Brett Pearson are back in the rankings at 45th in doubles after a weekend that saw them increase their win streak to four matches, and defeat ranked competition with a win over No. 27 Rakhmatullayev/Alazmeh in the Michigan State matchup. Hyeonseok Seo would impress in the Michigan match, as he increased his unbeaten streak to four matches with a two match winning streak, one away from tying his season and career record of three wins.
Penn State Scouting Report
Penn State enters the Friday matchup unranked despite a 14-10 record, with no players ranked in either singles or doubles competition. State are coming off a weekend in with they made the trip to Los Angeles, going 0-2 against No. 26 USC and No. 22 UCLA, in which they were defeated 7-0 and 6-1. The Lions currently hold a three match winless run, with their last victory coming to then ranked No. 69 Northwestern on March 27th.
Ohio State Scouting Report
The Buckeyes enter the Sunday matchup ranked at second in the country with an 21-3 record, with a slew of ranked members in both singles and doubles with the No. 11, 26th, 27th, 42nd, 81st singles players and the No. 3, 36th, 43rd, and 84th pairings in doubles. Ohio State's last loss was to Michigan State, 4-3, back on March 15th. Also coming off a weekend in LA, the Buckeyes handled top ranked opposition No. 22 UCLA and No. 26 USC, having won both matches, 4-0 and 4-3 respectively.
