Sellers Named To Naismith Trophy Midseason Team
February 17, 2026 | Women's Basketball
SEATTLE — Junior Sayvia Sellers has been named to the 2026 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Late-Season Team, as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club on Tuesday.
Sellers becomes the first Husky since Kelsey Plum in 2017 to be named to the Women's College Player of the Year Late-Season Team, and the fourth player in program history to be recognized.
The Huskies' guard is averaging a team-leading 19.3 points, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Her 501 points this season rank fifth in the Big Ten Conference and 24th nationally. She set single-game career highs in points (38 at No. 16 Maryland), 3-point field goals made (7 vs. Green Bay), steals (5 at No. 16 Maryland), and blocks (3 vs. Illinois). On Sunday against Oregon, she recorded her 20th consecutive game with double-digit points — the most by a Husky since Kelsey Plum in 2016-17.
She's often been at her best when her team needs her the most. In eight games against opponents either ranked or receiving votes in the AP Poll, she leads the team with 20.4 points per game. Sellers is shooting 45.0% from the field and 30.9% from behind the 3-point line in those contests.
This season, she became the first Husky in program history to be named a USBWA National Player of the Week twice in the same season. She was also named to the 2025-26 Preseason All-Big Ten Team, the Ann Meyers Drysdale Watch List, a Big Ten Player of the Week, and an AP Player of the Week Honorable Mention.
Sellers joins 30 of the nation's top players on the Naismith Trophy watch list.
Washington women's basketball is back in action this week with a road game against No. 2 UCLA on Thursday, Feb. 19. Tipoff at Pauley Pavilion is set for 7 p.m. PT.
