SEATTLE — The Washington women's basketball team (11-2, 1-1 Big Ten) shot lights-out from the field in a dominant 94-73 win over Northwestern (6-7, 0-2 Big Ten) Monday night at Alaska Airlines Arena.
Washington knocked down 16 3-pointers — its highest tally of the season and the most since Nov. 22, 2016, when the Huskies hit 19 against Idaho. UW's 94 points marked its highest total in a conference game since Dec. 30, 2016, and tied for the third-most under head coach Tina Langley.
Additionally, UW finished the night shooting 48.5 percent from the field (33-for-68), one of its best marks of the season.
Beyond the prolific offensive output, Monday was a night to remember for a number of record individual performances.
The milestones began with Sayvia Sellers' first bucket, who knocked down a 3-pointer to record her 1,000th career point. She became the 32nd Husky in program history to accomplish the feat. Sellers finished her night with 19 points, four assists, and two steals.
Avery Howell set a new career-high in points (23) and 3-pointers made (6) in the win. Five of her makes from behind the arc came in the first half, which the Huskies used to jump to an early 46 to 33 lead.
Her last 3-pointer set up another milestone, as Hannah Stines recorded her 250th career assist on the play. Stines finished with 10 points, four assists, and three rebounds, becoming the fourth Husky to finish in double figures.
Elle Ladine also contributed her best performance of the season, tying the team lead with 23 points after shooting 7-for-12 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. She added another five rebounds, two assists, and a block. It's the 18th game of her career where she recorded 20 or more points.
Devin Coppinger continued to impress, posting nine points and six rebounds on Monday night.
The Huskies forced 16 opposing turnovers, which they turned into 10 second chance points. Howell led the team with three steals, while McGaughy led with two blocks.
Up next, Washington continues its conference homestand when it hosts No. 6 Michigan on Thursday, Jan. 1 at 3 p.m. PT in Alaska Airlines Arena.
