NCAA TOURNAMENT RUN CONTINUES AT STANFORD
The path to the College Cup continues in Northern California for the Huskies.
Washington enters the third round of the NCAA Tournament with a 12-6-2 record and a second place finish in the Big Ten regular season standings.
Of Washington's 30 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 2025, the Huskies have advanced out of the first round 20 times, a 66.6% rate.
The Huskies 2025 NCAA Tournament run is the first time the team has advanced past the second round since the College Cup run in 2021.
SCOUTING THE CARDINAL
Washington faces a familiar foe in former Pac-12 rival Stanford on Sunday evening.
The Cardinal most recently took down Kansas City in the second round of the NCAA Tournament after earning a first round bye as the No. 12 seed.
Stanford is led offensively by Trevor Islam with 15 points (6g, 3a) and Zach Bohane with 13 points (5g, 3a). The Cardinal has scored 36 goals this year while allowing only 16 the other direction. Jeremy Gunn's team has amassed a 14-3-2 record, including a second place finish in the ACC regular season standings.
SERIES HISTORY
Washington owns a 39-22-10 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 1974.
The Huskies have earned a result in each of the last six meetings between the programs (2-0-4).
LAST MEETING (10/22/2023)
SEATTLE – Washington and No. 14 Stanford battled to a one-all draw on Sunday afternoon at Husky Soccer Stadium.
UW moves to 5-5-5 overall on the season and 2-3-2 in conference play.
After both sides took shots back and forth in the first half with no goals, the Huskies broke through in the 44th minute.
The Huskies got a throw in from 18 yards out and Kalani Kossa-Rienzi sent it in to Gabe Threadgold outside the box who brought it in to Nate Jones whose header Bryan Iliohan to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. The goal is the fourth for Iliohan this season.
Stanford's chance at the equalizer in the 74th minute was saved by Sam Fowler. He tallied four saves on the afternoon including three in the first half.
The Cardinal however got the equalizer in the 89th minute to level the match at one.
Up next, the Huskies conclude the regular season with three matches on the road beginning at UCLA on Thursday night.
WONDER GOAL SENDS HUSKIES PAST SMU
Connor Lofy scored in his second straight game to secure a 1-0 win over No. 5 seed SMU on Sunday. Washington moves on to the third round of the NCAA Tournament with the win.
The opener didn't come until the second half of the match. In the 72nd minute, Washington sent a corner kick into the box. It was headed out by the Mustangs, but only as far as Connor Lofy.
The Husky midfielder controlled the ball and turn to face goal before striking a looping shot into the air. It was placed perfectly – just out of reach of the goalkeeper into the top right corner.
HUSKIES WIN FIVE GOAL THRILLER IN FIRST ROUND
The Dawgs would not be denied on Thursday night, coming back from a goal down twice and scoring the golden goal winner in double overtime against No. 10 Oregon State. Oregon State scored to take the lead in the fourth minute, but Harrison Bertos connected off Zach Ramsey's corner kick to tie it up in the 57th. After the Beavers converted a penalty kick in the 77th, it was Connor Lofy who equalized again, this time in the 85th minute to knot the game at two. after a scoreless first 10 minutes of extra time, Richie Aman made a run down the left flank and flicked an outrageous ball into the far corner of the goal to clinch the victory for Washington.
CONSISTENCY IS KEY
With the win over SMU, Washington claimed its 12th win of the season, marking the 12th occasion in Jamie Clark's 15 years on Montlake the team has won at least 12 games. It's also the 12th time Clark has led the Huskies into the NCAA Tournament.
The last time the Huskies advanced past the second round of the NCAA Tournament was in 2021 when Washington made its first-ever trip to the NCAA Championship match.
HUSKIES CLEAN UP BIG TEN AWARDS
Eight Huskies claimed nine Big Ten end of season awards, the second most of any team in the conference. Richie Aman headlined the list, taking home the Big Ten Midfielder of the Year award while also collecting All-Big Ten First Team honors.
Harrison Bertos, Alex Hall, and Zach Ramsey each joined Aman on the All-Big Ten First Team while Jadon Bowton and Charlie Kosakoff were named to the All-Big Ten Second Team. Asher Hestad earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team and Conner Leber was lauded as the Huskies' Sportsmanship honoree.

SPREADING THE LOVE
The Huskies have had seven different players score game-winning goals in the 2025 season. Charlie Kosakoff, Richie Aman, Zach Ramsey, and Harrison Bertos each have netted two game winners while Joe Dale and Connor Lofy have each added one.
17 players on Washington's roster have recorded at least one point this season while five different players are in double figures.
HERMANN TROPHY RECOGNITION
Richie Aman was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List thanks to his impactful play all season long. Aman currently is fourth in the nation with 11 total assists and ninth in assists per game at 0.55. His 19 total points are the sixth most in the Big Ten and 69th in the NCAA as well.
The 2025 midseason watch list was compiled by members of the Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List Committee. A total of 15 players will be named 2025 Hermann Trophy semifinalists on December 9 at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes, and three players will be named finalists. The 2025 recipient will be announced January 9, 2026, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo.
Aman has had multi-assists games on five occasions, including against both Rutgers and Indiana, and moves into a tie for fourth in the Husky record book for assists in a single campaign (11).
CLASS OF THE BIG TEN
Four of the top nine players in total points in the Big Ten are Huskies. Charlie Kosakoff leads the team with 21 points (8g, 5a) and is fourth in the conference. Zach Ramsey (6g, 7a) and Richie Aman (4g, 11a) are tied in sixth with 19 points and Alex Hall is ninth with 15 (4g, 7a).
As a team, Washington leads the conference in total shots (312), shots on goal (137), shots on goal percentage (43.9%), and corner kicks (138). The Huskies are also second in the Big Ten in goals scored (44) and goal differential (23).
Washington's 44 goals this season are the fifth-most the Huskies have scored with Clark at the helm.
INTO THE RANKINGS
The Huskies entered both the United Soccer Coaches and Top Drawer Soccer rankings in week seven and have stayed in each poll since. This week, Washington is 23rd in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, 12th in the Top Drawer Soccer rankings, and 36th in the RPI.
OFFENSIVE OPPORTUNITIES
The Huskies have been applying the pressure in every game this season, recording more shots than their opponents in 14 of 20 games. Washington is 10-0-0 when scoring first and 8-1-0 when scoring in the first half.
As a team, the Huskies' offense ranks among the best in the country. Washington is eighth in total goals (44), 10th in total points (133), and 15th in total assists (46).
WASHINGTON STATS
In addition to its top-15 marks in total goals, points, and assists, Washington is one of the best teams in the nation across the board.
The Huskies are eighth in corner kicks per game (6.90), 10th in points per game (6.65), 10th in shots on goal per game (6.85), 12th in scoring offense (2.20), 15th in goal differential (23), 16th in shots per game (15.60), 18th in assists per game (2.25), 43rd in winning percentage (.650), 49th in shutout percentage (.400), and 51st in goals against average (1.042).
DAWG DEBUTS
12 Huskies have made their Washington debuts in the first two matches of the season. Levi Bieber, Brecken Bowers, Cameron Cruz, Clarens Dollin, Jaeger Felton, Carter Gay, Osato Enabulele, Sheehan Ganguly, Philip Kleeman, Zack Meier, and Kevin Hernandez, and Chad Sovde all featured during the first four games of the season.
BRICK WALL KEEPERS
While the Huskies offense has been hot lately, the defense has been just as impressive. Washington has shutout their opponents in six of the last 11 games, including two top-15 opponents in then-No. 12 Indiana and then-No. 13 Rutgers.
Bowton has started each of the last nine games, collecting six wins over that span. Most recently, the graduate student earned the shutout against No. 5 seed SMU. In the first round of the tournament, he made two key saves agasint Oregon State, including a point blank save in overtime. Earlier this season against Rutgers, Bowton prevented an equalizer by saving a penalty kick in addition to four other stops for a season-high five saves. He then set a new season-high with six saves in the shutout win over Ohio State. Bowton has a 9-5-1 record this season with five shutouts.
Bieber has made five starts this season and has led Washington to three shutouts and a 3-1-1 record in those games. Bowton has made seven starts, earning a 4-2-1 record with two shutouts.
Bieber tied a career-high four saves last time out while facing a career-high 19 shots in a 1-0 shutout victory at Northwestern. Earlier this season, in his second career appearance, Levi Bieber recorded his first win and shutout. Bieber has two complete game shutouts and one combined shutout on the year.
PICKED FIFTH IN CONFERENCE
Entering year two in the Big Ten conference, Washington was picked to place fifth in the 11-team league.
Washington finished 8-6-7 last season, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies ended the season with a 4-3-3 record in Big Ten play, finishing fourth in the league with 15 points.
The Huskies finished the regular season second overall in the Big Ten standings.
HOMEGROWN TALENT
Washington's roster features 19 of 29 players who hail from the state of Washington. Four players claim Seattle as their hometown (Asher Hestad, Joe Dale, Cameron Cruz, and Jaeger Felton), while two each are from Spokane (Kenny Pierpoint and Jadon Bowton), and from Bellevue (Sheehan Ganguly and Chad Sovde).
CREAM OF THE CROP
In 15 seasons on Montlake, Jamie Clark has orchestrated the meteoric rise of Washington men's soccer, distinguishing the team as one of the nation's top college soccer programs. Clark has led the Huskies to a record of 186-72-41, three Pac-12 titles, and 12 trips to the NCAA Tournament. Of those postseason appearances, Clark's Huskies have made four trips to the NCAA Quarterfinals, including three straight NCAA Quarterfinals appearances from 2019-21.
Clark currently ranks ninth in winning percentage among active head coaches with a .693 percentage in 18 career seasons.
FRESH FACES
The Huskies welcomed six freshmen to the squad this fall. Kenny Pierpoint (GK), Clarens Dollin (MF/F), Carter Gay (D), Kevin Hernandez (MF), Zack Meier (D), and Osato Enabulele (MF) all enter their first season on Montlake. In addition to the first years, the Huskies also welcomed Cameron Cruz (MF), a transfer from Grand Canyon to the squad.
