SEATTLE - No. 11 Washington bagged four goals for the second consecutive game to secure a 4-2 victory over No. 3 Portland on Thursday night. UW moves to 2-1 with the ranked victory.

The Huskies scored early and often yet again, opening the scoring just nine minutes into the contest. It was a beautifully worked team goal, with Cameron Cruz providing the first assist to set up Zach Ramsey in the box. Ramsey played a perfect back heel to Alex Hall in the center of the box, who then slotted it home for his first goal of the season.

Just three minutes later, the Dawgs struck again. Stockton Short launched a towering pass up the field that was mishandled by a Portland defender. Ramsey was the key man this time, controlling the ball and firing it past the keeper to double the lead.

Another three minutes passed before Washington pounced yet again. Asher Hestad sent a long throw in from deep in the Portland end. Wyatt Lewis received his service and sent it along to Harrison Bertos, who slammed it home for the third goal of the game.

In the span of six minutes, and just 15 minutes of game time, Washington was up 3-0 on the No. 3 team in the nation.

In the 35th minute, Ramsey was dangerous again. Attacking into the Portland box, The Huskies' leading scorer was tackled from behind and a penalty was awarded.

Ramsey stepped up calmly and bagged his first half brace.

The Redmond, Washington native now has six goals on the season in just three games. Add in his assist on the first goal, and he's got 13 points, averaging 4.33 per game.

Portland got their attack going late in the first half. Stockton Short made a superb save to prevent the first goal for the Pilots, but the rebound fell kindly for another player and Portland was able to pull one back.

Washington fought for another goal throughout the second half and successfully kept the pressure on Portland. But in the 86th minute, after another stellar save from Short, Portland struck again.

The Huskies held on for the remainder of the match, however and secured a 4-2 victory.

Washington finished the day with 20 shots, 12 of which were on goal. Short contributed four saves on the day.

Harrison Bertos, Egor Akulov, Asher Hestad, Alex Hall, Zack Meier, Connor Lofy, and Stockton Short all played the full 90 to earn the victory for the Dawgs.

Washington is right back in action on Sunday night with another ranked matchup. The Huskies head to Corvallis for an NCAA Tournament rematch against No. 25 Oregon State at 7 p.m.
