Brynn McGaughy Named To McDonald’s All American Roster
January 27, 2025 | Women's Basketball
SEATTLE – Washington signee Brynn McGaughy was named to the 2025 McDonald's All American Game roster, the committee announced Monday.
McGaughy, a five-star forward from Central Valley in Spokane, Wash., will become just the sixth Husky to play in the McDonald's All American game, joining former UW standouts Katie Collier (2012), Kelsey Plum (2013), Deja Strother (2015), Nancy Mulkey (2016), and Dalayah Daniels (2020). Three of these six players to be selected to an All American roster have played under fourth year head coach Tina Langley.
The top 24 girls and 24 boys basketball players will play in the 2025 McDonald's All American High School Basketball Games, which will take place on Tuesday, April 1 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The game will feature two rosters of 12 players competing in an East vs. West format, where McGaughy will be one of 12 girls players competing for the West. The girls game will start at 3:30 p.m. PT on ESPN2, followed by the boys game at 6 p.m. PT.
McGaughy, who was one of 25 players just named to the Naismith High School Player of the Year Midseason team, was one of four high school girls players from Washington to be nominated as a McDonald's All American. There were a total of six players, boys and girls, who were selected from Washington.
So far during her senior year at Central Valley, McGaughy has led her squad to a 16-0 start, including a 5-0 start to district play. She's averaging 19.0 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game while shooting 54 percent from the field.
Coach Langley on McGaughy signing to Washington
"Brynn is one of the most dynamic and talented players in the nation, with a rare combination of size, skill, and athleticism that allows her to excel at every position on the floor. She can score at all three levels, is an elite passer, and has a high IQ that makes everyone around her better. But what truly sets Brynn apart is her heart. From the moment I saw her with Ashley and Emily, they couldn't stop talking about her character. As we got to know her, it was clear that she fit our culture perfectly. She is a servant leader whose joy, love, and giving heart shine on and off the court. It's a beautiful reflection of the family and community that raised her. We are so grateful that Brynn has chosen to stay home in Washington."
