SEATTLE β Washington women's basketball signee Brynn McGaughy has been named to the 2024-25 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Girl's High School Player of the Year Midseason Team, which features 25 of the nation's top high school girls basketball players.
McGaughy signed her Big Ten Athletic Scholarship Agreement on November 13, 2024 along with fellow future Huskies Nina Cain, Bryn Martin, and Sienna Harvey in Washington'sΒ Top-10 recruiting class.
Brynn McGaughy decided to stay home in the state of Washington to join the Huskies. The Spokane, Wash. native is the highest-rated recruit to commit to Washington and the first five-star recruit under coachΒ Tina Langley.
The 6-foot-3 forward native spent three high school seasons at Colfax before transferring to Central Valley her senior season.
Β
McGaughy, a five-star recruit ranked No. 17 in the 2025 class by ESPN, led her Colfax team to an undefeated season as a sophomore. The team went on to win the State 2B championship and McGaughy was named State 2B player of the year.
McGaughy has dominated so far during her senior season, helping lead her Central Valley team to an 11-0 start. The Washington commit dropped 20 points in a win over Sunnyside in late December and had 17 in a debut victory over Eastmont.Β
COACH LANGLEY ON MCGAUGHY
"Brynn is one of the most dynamic and talented players in the nation, with a rare combination of size, skill, and athleticism that allows her to excel at every position on the floor," said Langley. "She can score at all three levels, is an elite passer, and has a high IQ that makes everyone around her better. But what truly sets Brynn apart is her heart. From the moment I saw her with Ashley and Emily, they couldn't stop talking about her character. As we got to know her, it was clear that she fit our culture perfectly. She is a servant leader whose joy, love, and giving heart shine on and off the court. It's a beautiful reflection of the family and community that raised her. Β We are so grateful that Brynn has chosen to stay home in Washington."
