
Huskies Win Big At No. 18 Utah To Conclude Regular Season

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Washington women's basketball (16-13, 6-12) earned a big 62-47 win at No. 18 Utah (21-9, 11-7) Saturday afternoon in Salt Lake City for the regular season finale.
The Dawgs dominated from the start, and never trailed the entire game, showing a lot of pace and fight in a tough road environment.
Sayvia Sellers got the scoring started with a jumper, and Lauren Schwartz followed close behind with two three-pointers in a row. Sellers returned with another three of her own.
Schwartz led all scorers with 18 points, including three three-pointers, four assists, 4 rebounds, two blocks, and a steal.
Sellers finished with 13 points, including going 3-3 from three-point range.
Dalayah Daniels had a big block in the first quarter, which Ari Long collected it to run up the court, with Hannah Stines finishing with a layup.
Dalayah Daniels finished with 12 points, a team-leading nine rebounds, a steal, and two blocks.
Hannah Stines was the fourth Husky in double-digit scoring with 11 points.
The Huskies played great defense, and in the second quarter, forced four turnovers in six minutes, held Utah scoreless through almost five minutes, and held the Utes to shooting only 13.3%.
UW went into halftime with the 27-21 lead.
Elle Ladine hit a reverse layup to get the scoring started in the second half, and later in the third quarter, drained a jumper as the shot clock expired to really fire up the Husky bench. Ladine finished with eight points.
After the third quarter, the Huskies led 46-34.
Schwartz hit her third three of the game to get the scoring started in the fourth quarter, and Washington continued playing physical on both ends of the floor.
The 47 points scored by Utah were their second-fewest this season. The Husky defense held Utah to 31.5%, well below their average season and conference field goal percentages.
The Huskies have now won four games against AP-ranked opponents, including three on the road.
Saturday was Washington's first win at Utah since 2017.
