Husky Size Too Much In 105-68 Exhibition Win Over Western Oregon
October 29, 2024 | Men's Basketball
SEATTLE – Washington size proved far too much for Western Oregon on Tuesday as the Huskies overpowered the Wolves in a 105-68 exhibition victory at Alaska Airlines Arena.
The Dawgs outscored Western Oregon 60-18 in the paint, taking advantage of 29 second chance points to build a commanding lead. In total, Washington out-rebounded the Wolves 54-32 on the night.
Washington's length forced 16 WOU turnovers, resulting in a 23-3 advantage for the Huskies in points off turnovers.
The Huskies demonstrated a balanced attack on the night, with seven Dawgs registering double-figure scoring. Senior transfer DJ Davis buried four threes en route to a team-high 16 points, while Tyler Harris and Zoom Diallo each posted 14 points and seven boards.
In his first competitive game back from last year's season-ending injury, Franck Kepnang converted 6-of-7 field goal attempts, finishing the game with 12 points.
After a brief Wolves lead, Kepnang's turnaround jumper just over three minutes put UW ahead 8-7 and the Dawgs would never look back. Washington went on to a 12-0 run to go up double digits.
DJ Davis rained in his second triple of the half, becoming the first Husky in double figures for the night and expanding the Husky lead to 51-25 to double up the Wolves. UW would go on to lead 58-31 at the break.
Davis opened the second half with back-to-back treys to reignite the Washington offense before Tyler Harris began to takeover.
The Portland transfer posted eight points after the break to pace the Huskies, while also reeling in seven rebounds.
While the Wolves were able to get some shots to fall in the second half, Washington kept up the pace to keep the dominant lead intact, eclipsing the century mark and handing the Wolves a near-40 point defeat.
Washington begins the regular season next Tuesday, hosting UC Davis at Alaska Airlines Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PT, airing on the Big Ten Network. Season tickets are on sale.
