SEATTLE – No. 14 Washington hits the road for the Pac-12 opener at No. 1 Stanford on Thursday night. Kickoff from Laird Q. Cagan Stadium is set for 7 p.m. and airing on Pac-12 Network.
LAST TIME OUT
Washington extended its unbeaten streak to three matches after a 1-1 draw against Cal State Fullerton on Sunday. Down a goal with seven minutes remaining, the Huskies were able to get a corner kick that was sent into the box for Nate Jones to head in the equalizer.
TOP OF THE PAC
For the second year in a row, the Huskies were picked to finish first in the conference in the preseason poll, voted on by the league's six coaches. In addition, four Huskies - Sam Fowler, Nate Jones, Christian Soto and Kalani Kossa-Rienzi - were named to the Pac-12 preseason team.
PAC-12 RECORD WATCH
Sam Fowler has a chance to become the Pac-12's all-time leader in both career shutouts and GAA (Goals Against Average). THE NEWCOMERS
The Huskies also brought in some new talent with six freshman and four transfers – Peter Kingston (Seattle U), Mani Diop (Akron), Bryan Iliohan (Cal Baptist) and Conner Leber (Cal Poly). Freshman Charlie Kosakoff joined the program back in January as an early enrollee and played the entire spring season with the team.
