SEATTLE β Coming off of a 2-1 series win over Utah to open Pac-12 play last weekend, Washington finishes up its final non-conference weekend series of the season, welcoming Rhode Island to Seattle March 17-19 for three games at Husky Ballpark.

Washington's 12-3 start is its best through the first 15 games of a season in nearly 30 years. The Huskies last got off to a hotter start in 1994, beginning that campaign 13-2. U Dub has won 24 of its last 27 games during the regular season and has won each of its last four Pac-12 series.

Through four starts, Kiefer Lord has proven himself more than up to the task of making the jump from Division 3 Carleton College to college baseball's highest level. The junior ranks inside the top-40 in the nation in wins, WHIP, ERA and strikeouts. Throwing six perfect innings with 10 strikeouts against Northern Colorado, Lord was named the Week 3 Perfect Game National Pitcher of the Week and Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week.
THAT'S OFFENSIVE
The Dawgs put up astonishing numbers during their four-game series with Northern Colorado. Most notably was the school-record 32 runs scored in the series opener. Those 32 runs are the second most scored by one team in an NCAA Division I game this season (William & Mary, 33 runs). The Huskies outscored the Bears 57-12 for the series, batting .388 as a team with 15 doubles, six home runs, 51 RBIs, 26 walks, 16 HBPs and a .513 team on-base percentage.
ONE-TWO PUNCH
Coming at you from the right and left side, respectively, starters Kiefer Lord and Stu Flesland III pose a daunting task for opposing offenses. Lord ranks third in the Pac-12 with a 1.19 ERA, while the flamethrower's 31 strikeouts are good for the third most in the league. Meanwhile, Flesland is close behind in sixth with a 1.96 ERA and ranks seventh in the conference with 26 strikeouts. Flesland and Lord rank first and third in the Pac-12 in WHIP at 0.74 and 0.79, respectively.
THE PEN IS MIGHTIER
The combination of Josh Emanuels and Case Matter has been a dynamic one at the back end of Washington's bullpen. Matter ranks fourth in the Pac-12 with three saves, also earning a pair of wins while garnering a 0.87 ERA with one earned run allowed in seven appearances. Meanwhile, Emanuels has picked up two saves and has also allowed a single earned run, posting a 0.68 ERA in seven appearances.
RISING TO THE OCCASSION
Husky shortstop Cam Clayton was on fire during UW's first Pac-12 series. Clayton batted .583 during the Dawgs' series with Utah, the third highest average for a player during the conference's opening weekend. Four of Clayton's seven hits went for extra bases, garnering a 1.083 slugging percentage.
THE KID'S CLUTCH
Freshman Sam DeCarlo has made his biggest impact this season in the biggest moments. DeCarlo is batting .455 with runners on base and .462 with runners in scoring position, compared to just .226 with the bases empty.

The Dawgs have gotten off to fast starts to innings, having the leadoff hitter to a frame reach 43.5 percent of the time. six different Huskies are reaching base at least half the time when leading off an inning. The next step will be to capitalize on those opportunities as just 27 of the 57 leadoff baserunners have come around to score.

A redshirt junior, Tincher enters his fourth season at UW coming off of a campaign in which he ranked second on the team with a .314 average. He drove in 35 runs and scored 27 more while posting 19 extra-base hits, including 13 doubles, five home runs and a triple. Defensively, Tincher threw out 10 of 31 runners attempting to swipe a bag last season, while garnering a .989 fielding percentage.

UW then took a decisive Super Regional Game 3 at Cal State Fullerton, erasing a one-run deficit in the ninth to force extras and walking off the Titans on Kaiser Weiss' sacrifice fly to score Levi Jordan and send the Dawgs to Omaha.
