March 12, 2023 | Baseball
SEATTLE – The Huskies saw their 11-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday, dropping the series finale to Utah 3-0 at Husky Ballpark.
Washington (12-3, 2-1 Pac-12) got 4.2 innings out of starter Jared Engman, who was saddled with the loss after allowing three earned runs. Gianluca Shinn, Calvin Kirchoff and Reilly McAdams teamed up to finish the game without allowing any further damage.
Despite the defeat, Cam Clayton had himself a day. The Husky shortstop led off with an extra base hit for the third game in a row and finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate.
Utah took the lead right from the jump, scoring the opening run on a Husky throwing error in the top of the first.
The Utes doubled the advantage in the third through TJ Clarkson's solo home run. Elijha Hammil's RBI double in the fifth brought the score to 3-0, where it would finish.

• The loss snaps UW's 11-game winning streak and is Washington's first loss at Husky Ballpark in its last 17 home games.
