SEATTLE - Despite dominating the early minutes of Thursday night's match against Arizona, Washington was pegged back with a first half goal from the Wildcats and was unable to overcome it, dropping a tough 1-0 result at Husky Soccer Stadium.
The Huskies had three golden opportunities to take a 6th-minute lead. However, Kala McDaniel's shot was saved by the Wildcats' Hope Hisey, who recovered to deny Summer Yates' point-blank shot off the rebound.
Yates' rebound found McKenzie Weinert in the middle of the 18, but her attempt was blocked by an Arizona defender and the Wildcats were able to clear, somehow maintaining the 0-0 scoreline.
The Huskies continued to play on the front foot but in the 26th minute the Wildcats struck off the counter as Jordan Hall beat Olivia Sekany to her right and found the bottom corner.
Coming out of the halftime break down a goal, Washington continued to press for an equalizer throughout the ensuing 45 minutes.
