SEATTLE – Ava Morton delivered her first career goal Thursday night at Husky Soccer Stadium, rescuing a draw as No. 11 Washington fought back from its first deficit of the 2026 season in a 1-1 draw with Gonzaga.

Despite conceding for the first time in 2026, the Dawgs finished the match with a 15-5 advantage in shots, with goalkeeper Tanner Ijams collecting a pair of saves on the night.

While the Huskies largely controlled possession in the opening 45 minutes, ending the half with six shots to GU's three, Gonzaga fired off a handful of warning shots in the early going, breaking on the counter and forcing the UW defense to scramble back.

Jadyn Holdenried nearly gave the Dawgs the lead late in the first half, meeting Ryan Boehm's cutback, but sending her shot too near Bulldog keeper Sydney Head.

Minutes later, Samantha Snorsky's shot found the upper corner of Ijams' goal to put Gonzaga up in the 42^nd minute and into the halftime break.

Washington came out of the break on the attack, finally breaking through the GU defense in the 66^th minute on Morton's first career goal. After Mary Camp Newton and Avery Nguyen kept things alive in the 18 yard box, the Sumner, Washington, native set the ball up on her left foot, beating Head high to level the match at a goal apiece.

With renewed momentum, Washington remained on the front foot until the final whistle, producing a handful of opportunities at the winner that were unable to stay on frame.

Sitting at 3-0-1, Washington makes a quick trip south on the weekend, visiting Oregon State for a 1:00 p.m. PT matchup in Corvallis. The match will be available for streaming through the Pac-12 YouTube channel.
