October 01, 2023 | Women's Soccer
SEATTLE – After falling behind early, the Washington women's soccer team battled back hard Sunday afternoon at Husky Soccer Stadium but were unable to overcome the deficit, falling 3-0 to No. 10 USC.
During the match, the Huskies celebrated Pride Day, advocating for equality, acceptance, and inclusion of all people.
The Huskies (5-4-2, 0-3-0 Pac-12) found themselves behind less than six minutes in, with Izzy Kimberly beating UW keeper Megan Nail low to give USC (7-2-0, 3-0-0) the early lead.
Washington built its way back into the game throughout the first half and in the second half, came out the more aggressive side.
However, Florianne Jourde struck for a second Trojan goal against the run of play in the 74th minute, and Helena Sampaio finished off a swift linkup play with Kayla Duran and Kimberly finish things off at 3-0.
The Huskies hit the road as Pac-12 play rolls on, taking on Arizona State on Thursday and Arizona Sunday.
