
Strong Second Half Leads Washington over Cal Poly

SEATTLE (AP) — Keion Brooks Jr. scored a career-high 30 points and Washington used a second-half run to beat Cal Poly 74-68 on Tuesday night.
Washington (8-3, 1-1) continued its season-long trend of being a strong second-half performer, scoring 50 points in the second frame. The Huskies entered shooting 38% in the first half and 50% in the second. Against the Mustangs they shot a blistering 66.7% in the second.
"This team has been resilient all year," Head Coach Mike Hopkins said about the Huskies. "In the second half we found a way. We were more patient, we were more poised, we had better ball movement, and we scored 50 points."
PJ Fuller II's 3-pointer with 10:31 left started a 12-0 run and turned a 51-44 deficit into a 56-51 lead with 6:47 remaining and Washington stayed ahead the rest of the way.
Braxton Meah finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and a career-high six blocks, five of which came in the first twenty minutes. Cole Bajema scored 13 points for Washington.
Down as much as 15, Tuesday's win was the largest comeback for the Huskies since overcoming a 17-point deficit in 2017. UW improved to 3-0 all-time against Cal Poly.
