Bruins Run Away For 84-50 Win

SEATTLE – Four players for No. 5 UCLA scored in double figures led by the Pac-12's leader Charisma Osborne with 21 points on Sunday afternoon at Alaska Airlines Arena as the Bruins rolled to an 84-50 win over Washington (4-10, 1-10 Pac-12).
The Bruins (11-3, 9-3) led from start to finish and built an 18-9 lead after the first quarter. Their swarming defense held the Huskies to 0-for-11 shooting from three-point territory to give UCLA a commanding 37-16 halftime lead.
Washington came out more offensive minded in the third quarter, tallying 21 points, but UCLA never relented and outscored the Huskies by 12 points in the fourth quarter to finish with a 34-point win. For the Huskies, the loss was their eighth-straight.
For Washington, junior Haley Van Dyke was a bright spot once again. She scored a team-high 13 points and had five steals before limping off the court in the waning minutes. Darcy Rees had nine points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting from the field and Alexis Griggsby chipped in with eight.
The Huskies battled tough with UCLA in the paint, trailing by just a 36-32 margin there. But the Bruins were able to convert 22 UW turnovers into 22 points.
Michaela Onyenewere and Emily Bessoir chipped in 15 and 14 points respectively for the Bruins, both doing most of their damage in the first half. Onyewere scored 11 and Bessoir 12 in the first 20 minutes.
The second half belonged to Osborne, as she poured in 16 of her 21 points in the third and fourth quarters to eclipse 20 points for the seventh-straight game.
The Huskies head back on the road and travel to the desert. They will face Arizona State on Friday, Feb. 12 with tip at 4:00 p.m. PT.
