Offense Comes Up Big In 3-1 Win Over #17 TCU
September 15, 2019 | Women's Soccer
FORT WORTH, Texas – The Washington Huskies played fast and put the #17 TCU Horned Frogs on the defensive all game long, winning 3-1 on the road to move to 3-2-2 on the season. Isabella Castro had her first career multi-assist game, picking up helpers on both the Summer Yates and Karlee Stueckle goals.
Stueckle's goal was the first of her career, with Vanessa Millsaps also earning her first career point with an assist. Kennedy Smith scored in the second half just two minutes after TCU cut the lead to 2-1, making it a two-goal lead again to help Washington seal the win. Jessika Cowart also had an assist in the game after intercepting a TCU pass to start the attack.
Siena Ruelas was a rock in her season debut, with her six saves just one off her career high. Ruelas set the tone early as Washington weathered TCU's initial attack, then came up big on a couple tough breakaway chances in the second half.
The game was played at a frantic pace, with the Huskies up to the challenge in the afternoon heat. Washington had five shots on goal in the first half, picking up two goals in the process, and ended the game with 11 total shots on goal, a season high.
Washington controlled the pace of play throughout, constantly pressuring the ball and beating TCU to loose balls routinely. Nine different Huskies had shots in the game as Washington went deep into its bench, feeding off the extra energy.

A great sequence here as Millsaps feeds it in, Castro pushes it along, and Stueckle finishes things off.#BeAboutIt x #GoHuskies pic.twitter.com/CB28T7zuxP
