Hannah Johnson Signs Pro Contract With Malta's DePiro

SEATTLE --- Washington alum Hannah Johnson signed a professional contract on Tuesday to play with DePiro of the Malta Women's League beginning this fall.
Johnson departs for Malta in early September and will compete in the league's fall 2019-20 season. In addition with her duties on the team, Johnson will spend time coaching DePiro's youth teams.
"I am extremely excited for this opportunity to be able to go play professionally in Malta along with coaching a youth team," said Johnson. "The University of Washington has prepared me as a athlete but even more so as a person to be able to take on this new journey. My time as a athlete at UW was so amazing and I am thankful for the memories that will be with me forever."
Johnson wrapped up her collegiate career in 2019 while also earning a Master's Degree in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership with an emphasis in coaching. For her UW career, Johnson appeared in 113 games, making 39 starts, scoring 511 points and adding 413 rebounds, 63 assists and 44 steals. She closed out her final season strong, scoring 10 points including two three-pointers, adding seven rebounds, one block and one assist against No. 7 Stanford (3/3/19) on Senior Night. She followed that up with 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting including going 2-of-4 from three-point range in the Huskies' upset win over No. 11 Oregon State (3/8/19) in the Pac-12 Tournament Quarterfinals.
During her final year at Washington, Johnson also served as a volunteer assistant coach at Lakeside School and plans to pursue a career in coaching once her playing days are finished.
