Huskies Own Possession Game But Lose 1-0
November 03, 2019 | Women's Soccer
SEATTLE ย โ The #21 Washington Huskies dominated the ball but took a 1-0 loss to the Utah Utes Sunday. Washington held the ball in the attacking half for 80% of the game, firing 24 total shots, but could not get the goal they needed. The Huskies are 10-6-2 overall and 6-4 in Pac-12 now entering the season's final week.
Despite holding the ball in the attacking half basically all 45 minutes, the Huskies found themselves trailing at the break for just the second time all season. Three cross in the first five minutes put the pressure on Utah early. That pressure would continue all half as eight different Huskies had shots in the first 45.
The second half was even more slated toward Washington's offense. Utah managed only two shots, neither on goal, in the final frame, while Washington had 13. The Huskies earned seven corner kicks in the second half alone but could not score, with Utah's keeper making a number of last-second saves.
