Regular Season Ends With Boeing Apple Cup Series
November 05, 2019 | Women's Soccer
SEATTLE - The regular season comes to a close this week with Washington's annual rivalry game. The Huskies will take on the #24 Washington State Cougars at home in the Boeing Apple Cup Series. That matchup will be Friday, November 8 at 7:00 pm, bringing the regular season to a close before Monday's NCAA Tournament selection show.
Washington will be looking to end the regular season with a win, which would push the Huskies to 11 on the year and guarantee at least a share of third place in the Pac-12. Washington is currently 6-4-0 in the Pac-12. A win would also make the Huskies 5-3-2 on the season at home.
This will be the 29th iteration of the Boeing Apple Cup Series in soccer. When Washington and Washington State last played in Seattle, the teams fought to a scoreless tie, in 2017. Only one game in the history of the series has been decided by more than two goals: a 3-0 Husky win in 1999. 12 of the last 15 matchups have been ties or one-goal games.

THE BIG 2-0 | |
Summer Yates became the first Husky since Jaclyn Softli in 2014 to record 20+ points in a single season. Her six assists this year are the eighth-most in a single season for a Husky and the second-most by a sophomore, behind online Caroline Putz's seven in 1999. The last Husky with more than 21 points was Lindsay Elston, who had 25 in 2012. |

Taylor Sekyra made her 70th career start last weekend. Sekyra is the 21st Husky all-time to start at least 70 games in their career. The last time Sekyra came off the bench was September 2, 2016, her second career appearance. Since that time, Sekyra has played over 1500 minutes in three consecutive years and started at least 18 games all three of those seasons. |

PAC-12 GOALS | |
Summer Yates needs two more points to reach double digits in Pac-12 play alone. Yates would be the first Husky to score double-digit points in conference play since Sarah Martinez had ten in 2011. Washington's 11 team goals in Pac-12 play are its most since scoring 12 in 2014. Washington has scored multiple goals four times against Pac-12 teams, its most since doing so six times in 2008. |
