SEATTLE - The Huskies (17-15, 8-4 Pac-12) continue Conference play this week by traveling down to Berkeley to face the Cal Bears (21-12, 7-8) for a three-game series starting Friday. After Sunday's game, the Huskies return home and will face UT Rio Grande Valley (18-18) on Monday at Husky Ballpark (6:05 p.m.).
Washington has won 3 of 4 Pac-12 series and sits alone at third in the standings, while Cal is sixth, has won three-straight Pac-12 series' and are looking to move up and get above the .500 mark in Conference play.

LAST WEEK
The Huskies beat Gonzaga on Tuesday, 5-3, behind Willie MacIver's eighth inning two-run home run that broke a 3-3 tie ... UW took two of three against Oregon in a series in which the weather wreaked havoc. The Huskies scored two runs in the first inning Friday and made it stick for a 2-1 win. The teams played a doubleheader Sunday and the Ducks took game one. 6-4. in a 13-inning, almost 5-hour marathon. The Huskies tied the game in the eighth and 11th innings, but couldn't come up with magic in the 13th inning after the Ducks scored a pair of runs. UW clinched the series with a combined 4-0 shutout. Jordan Jones (5.1 IP) and Josh Burgmann (3.2 IP) paired up to keep the Ducks at bay.
SERIES HISTORY VS. CALIFORNIA
Cal leads the all-time series over Washington 47-37. The Huskies have won two out of three in each of the past two years to claim the last two series matchups. Cal's last series win was in Seattle in 2015 when they swept the Huskies. UW has won 2 out of 3 each of the last two times they have traveled to Berkeley. Lindsey Meggs is 9-15 against the Bears since he took over as Huskies' head coach, but has won three of the last four series between the teams. The two teams first met over 100 years ago in 1911, where Washington picked up the first three wins of the all-time series.

β’ Ironman Kahle: Sophomore Nick Kahle has been Superman-like in 2018. He has caught 276 of a possible 291 innings (95%) behind the plate this year. He is the only Husky to start all 32 games this year, 30 of which has been at catcher. In the two starts he made in left field, he eventually strapped on the gear and played catcher. In Sunday's doubleheader vs. Oregon, he caught all 22 innings.
β’ Meggs Milestone: Lindsay Meggs needs three wins to reach 250 in his nine-year UW career (247-229-1). Earlier, heΒ won his 850th career game on March 2 vs. Michigan State and coached in his 1,400th game April 13 vs. Oregon.
β’ Pac-12 Improvement: The Huskies are leading the Conference in pitching and fielding during Pac-12 play, which is a vast improvement over what they did in non-conference action. UW has a .987 fielding pct and has made 6 errors -- 3 of which came in one game -- in 12 Pac-12 games. They ranked second to last with a .966 fielding pct and 26 errors in non-conference action. The team's ERA of 3.19 in Pac-12 action is an improvement from their 3.53 ERA in non-conference.
β’ DeMers Shutout Note: Joe DeMers, a Midseason Golden Spikes Watch List member, has thrown two shutouts this year. The only Huskies over the last 20 years to throw a pair of shutouts in the same year are Jacob Clem (2011), Tim Lincecum (2006) and Shawn Kohn (2001). Β John Martin (1980) is the last Husky to throw three shutouts in the same season.
β’ Bullpen Note: The Huskies' bullpen has stranded 57 of 76 inherited runners this season (.750). For the season, the bullpen has an 9-6 record and 3.41 ERA in 118.2 innings.
