Redhawks, Dollar Dog Night Invade Husky Ballpark Tuesday
March 05, 2018 | Baseball
SEATTLEΒ - After winning two of the three at the Dairy Queen Pac-12/Big Ten Baseball Classic, Washington returns to action rather quickly. The Huskies and Seattle University rekindle its crosstown rivalry Tuesday, March 6 as the Diamond Dawgs host the RedhawksΒ for a 6:05 p.m. tilt at Husky Ballpark.
For those in attendance on Tuesday, it marks the return of the always popular Dollar Dog Night with hotdogs selling for $1 in the concession stands.Β
This past weekend, the Huskies beat Michigan State and Minnesota -- each in extra innings -- and dropped their Sunday finale to Illinois. Senior designated hitter Joe Wainhouse and freshman outfielder Kaiser Weiss were each named to the all-tournament team, while junior Mason Cerrillo earned the Silver Slugger award as the tourney's top hitter.
There is little time for the Huskies to celebrate their successful weekend as they face Seattle U on Tuesday before welcomingΒ in Illinois State for four games, Friday through Monday.Β
The Tuesday game is the first of two between UW and SU during the season. The Huskies will travel to BannerwoodΒ Ballpark in Bellevue on Tuesday, April 17.
UW leads the all-time series 78-53. Seattle U won two out of three matchups against the Huskies in 2017. The Redhawks won both games at Husky Ballpark, while the Huskies took the lone matchup at Bannerwood Park.Β Over the last 10 games, Washington holds a 7-3 advantage, but Seattle U has a 3-2 lead over the last five games.
Β
The history between the teams goes all the way back to 1903Β with Washington wining a pair of games that year.Β
Β
Tuesday's game will mark the first Husky Baseball game carried exclusively on the TuneIn app. Bill Abelson will call the action at Husky Ballpark.Β
