UW (12-4, 2-1) vs. California (7-9, 1-2)
UW returns to the friendly confines of Alaska Airlines Arena as it hosts California on Thursday, Jan. 11 at 8 p.m. The game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks with Guy Haberman and Eldridge Recasner on the call. Additionally, fans can tune into KOMO 1000AM and 97.7 FM to hear the official UW radio broadcast from Tony Castricone and Jason Hamilton. Cal has won six straight but the last four games in Seattle have been decided by an average of 5.3 points. Three of those have been decided by 3 or less points.
The Coach
Head Coach Mike Hopkins is in his first year at Washington, and first as a head coach becoming the 19th head coach in UW history. After spending 22 years as an assistant at Syracuse, Hopkins oversaw teams that reached the NCAA Tournament 16 times including the 2003 National Championship, four Final Fours, five Elite Eights and 10 Sweet 16s along with four NIT berths. Syracuse never dipped below a 55.0 percent record while Hopkins was on staff.

• In Pac-12 play, the Huskies are getting 63 percent of their scoring from inside the paint, compared to 43 percent during non-conference action ... Washington has scored at least 50 points in the paint in three of its last six games
• Washington has overcome 10 point deficits three times this season in wins over Belmont, USC and Washington State .. additionally, UW has trailed by at least five in six of its 12 wins
• UW shot 73.9 percent from the field (17-of-23) in the second half of its win at WSU to mark the third time in five games UW has shot over 70 percent from the second half
• Washington had five players score in double figures for the third time in the last five games

• Junior Matisse Thybulle is the only active player in NCAA Division 1 to have over 150 steals and 75 blocks in their career ... his 156 steals rank tied for 18th amongst the NCAA active career leaders in that category ... additionally he is the only player in Husky history to have 150+ career steals (156) and 75+ career blocks (79)
• Washington has had fewer turnovers than its opponents in 11 of its 16 games and are 9-2 in those outings
• Junior Noah Dickerson is one of two Pac-12 players averaging at least 15.1 points and 7.7 rebounds while also shooting at least 60 percent from the field (60.4FG%), joining Arizona's Deandre Ayton (20.4 ppg/11.6 rpg/62.5FG%)
• UW shot 67.3 percent from the field (37-of-55) against USC ... it's highest shooting percentage since at least 2002-03 .. it's the second time UW has shot over 62 percent from the field this season (62.7 percent vs. BCU) and was the second time in a three-game span
• Starting with the Kansas game, sophomore Sam Timmins has been 22-of-32 from the field, shooting at a 68.8 percent clip with 10 blocks. Fourteen of his 22 made FGs (63.6 percent) in that span have come from dunks.
• UW is the only team in the NCAA to record 16 steals and 15 blocks in the same game this season after doing so against BCU .. since the 2011-12 season only one other school has recorded those numbers in a single game ... Syracuse (12/28/2011 - 17 steals, 15 blocks - v. Seton Hall)
• UW's 10 wins in non-conference play tied for the second most since 2005-06 ... UW had 11 wins in 2014-15, 10 in 2006-07 and 10 in 2005-06
• Freshman Jaylen Nowell has scored seven of his 14 total career threes over the last six games
• Since moving into the point guard position, junior David Crisp has dished out 55 assists which is up from his 44 over the first 16 games a year ago and 29 over the first 16 games as a freshman ... he is also leading the team in minutes at 35.3 per game
• Junior Matisse Thybulle is creating scoring on the direct next possession of 65.4 percent (34 of 52) of his 52 steals this year ... over the last two years he is creating scoring on 57.2 percent (67 of 117) of the next possession and for his career he is at 57.1 percent (89 of 156 steals)
• UW is shooting 79.3 percent from the FT line in final five minutes of its 16 games and that goes up to 81.6 percent in the final two minutes ... UW has not been that efficient from the FT line during those two spans since at least 2002-03 (stats not kept as well before that)
