ASU Next Up For Hungry Diamond Dawgs
May 11, 2017 | Baseball
SEATTLE - After a tough week in the desert, Washington (24-21, 10-11 Pac-12) returns home in search of finding its winning ways again. With just nine games left on the regular season schedule, UW welcomes in Arizona State (21-24, 7-14) for three games, starting Friday at 6:00 p.m.
The Huskies are on a current four-game losing streak, which equals a season high, but have been very competitive in those losses. Each of the losses has been by two runs or less. The Sun Devils arrive in Seattle with a two-game win streak but have experienced turmoil of their own as five people have left the team over the last week.
Saturday is Bark In The Park where fans can bring their furry friends to the game (waiverΒ required) and Sunday there will be a Mother's Day Brunch at the Conibear Shellhouse (brunch sold out) at 10:00 a.m.
The three-game series this weekend will not be televised, but all games will be streamed online. Constant game updates will be tweeted @UW_Baseball and fans can follow live stats and watch live online by clicking links available at GoHuskies.com. Β

TEAM NOTES:Β
β’ Post-Season Watch: The Huskies check in this week with a RPI of 68. Both Baseball America and D1Baseball are projecting the Huskies to make post-season play, but a lot will be dictated by the final three weekends. Arizona State comes to Seattle with a RPI of 85 and the next opponents are ranked in the top-100: Stanford (10) and USC (100). The Huskies have been ranked as high as 10th during the season by Baseball America
β’ Close Games: The Huskies are accustomed to playing close games. While nine of the Huskies' 24 wins have been by four or more runs, only two of their losses have come by that same set of standards. UW has 10 one-run losses, five by two runs and four by three runs. Conversely, the Huskies have seven one-run wins, one by two runs and seven wins by three runs.
β’ Defense: The Huskies enter the weekend with the second fewest errors in the nation with 28. They are one of three teams with under 30 errors on the season. They committed five errors last weekend at Arizona, including a season-high three in the series finale They rank fourth nationally with a .983 fielding percentage.Β

β’ Over their last 10 games, Levi Jordan and John Naff have been particularly hot at the plate and seen their season batting averages take giant leaps. Jordan is hitting .412 (14x34) since April 22 and has seen his average go from .233 to .273. Naff is hitting .389 (14x36) during a 10-game span and his average has went from .202 to .248.Β
β’ Joey Morgan continues to lead hitters in Pac-12 only play with a .411 average and .506 on base percentage.Β
β’Noah Bremer is in UW's career top-10 list in three categories: innings pitched (6th, 262.1), starts (8th, 38) and has strikeouts (6th, 184). With 16 more K's, he'll join a group of five others with 200 career strikeouts. Complete lists are on page 11.
β’ Jack Meggs is 6th all-time with 203 career games played. Kyle London has 181, six away from UW's top-10 list. The most career games by classmates is 412 by Kyle Larsen (225) & Taylor Johnson (189) from 2002-05.
β’ MJ Hubbs had a 36-game streak of reaching base safely snapped last Sunday, a game in which, ironically, every other Husky starter reached base safely at least twice. His streak is the longest among Pac-12 players in 2017.
