
Plum Recognized On USBWA All-America Team

SEATTLE -- University of Washington senior Kelsey Plum was named to United States Basketball Writers Association All-America Team, as announced by the organization on Wednesday (March 29).
Plum, in recently concluding her collegiate career with a 25.4 scoring average – 31.7 this season – finished as the NCAA's all-time leading scorer with 3,527 career points. This past season's mark of 1,109 points also broke the single-season scoring record as she became just the third player in NCAA history to reach 1,000 points in a single season.
The Poway, Calif. native also broke the 33-year-old NCAA career free throw record in the final game of her career.
Plum, a finalist for the 2017 Lieberman Award, Naismith Trophy, Staley Award, Wade Trophy and Wooden Award, was also named to the USBWA All-America Team last season.
All totaled, there are five seniors, three juniors, and two sophomores on the 30th USBWA All-America Team. The Pac-12 Conference boasts Plum and Oregon State's Sydney Wiese.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association, formed in 1956, has named a women's All-America team since the 1987-88 season. The association has also named a national player of the year – now known as the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award – since 1987-88 and a national coach of the year since 1989-90.
