Kelsey Plum Breaks NCAA All-Time Scoring Record In Win Against Utah
February 25, 2017 | Women's Basketball
SEATTLE -- Senior Kelsey Plum of the No. 11 University of Washington women's basketball team (27-4, 15-3 Pac-12) entered Saturday's game 54 points shy of passing the NCAA all-time scoring leader Jackie Stiles. The nation's leading scorer put on one of the most dazzling performances in women's college basketball, pouring in 57 points to eclipse that mark and become the all-time leading scorer on her home turf in front of the Washington faithful.

Plum set a new school and Pac-12 single-game scoring record to lead Washington to an 84-77 regular-season finale win over Utah on Senior Day.
Plum's 57 points ranks fifth in the NCAA for most points in a game and fittingly enough, she surpassed Stiles who scored 56 during a game in 2000. She fell three points shy of the NCAA single-game scoring record.
Plum, who now has 3,397 career points, went 19-of-28 from the floor, 6-of-11 from three and 13-for-16 from the foul line. She surpassed Stiles' mark of 3,393 points midway through the fourth quarter after tying the record with a hesitation drive in the lane at the 4:57 mark. After a Utah basket and timeout, Plum hit a runner from just outside the lane with 4:06 remaining to surpass Stiles on the all-time list.
In the game, Plum also broke Washington's single-season scoring record, a record in which she set last season. She now has 979 points in her illustrious senior year, surpassing the record of 960.
Senior Chantel Osahor accounted for her NCAA-leading 26th double-double in the win. The Phoenix, Ariz. native scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds prior to fouling out in the fourth quarter.
Plum had 22 points at halftime and then went on an absolute tear in the second half, scoring 16 in the third and 19 of the Huskies' 22 points in the fourth quarter.
The Utes (16-13, 5-13 Pac-12) stayed close throughout, pulling to within three at the 8:26 mark of the third quarter and staying within single-digits in the fourth quarter.
Washington closed the regular season with seven wins in its final eight games.
