Dawgs Face Tough Test vs. No. 2 Kansas on Wednesday

UW (6-2) vs. No. 2 Kansas (7-0)
UW hits the road for the second time this season, once again at a neutral site as it faces No. 2 Kanas on Wednesday, Dec. 6 in the Jayhawk Classic at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. The game will be televised on ESPN2 with Rich Hollenberg and Fran Fraschilla on the call. Additionally fans can tune into KOMO 1000AM and 97.7 FM to hear the official UW radio broadcast from Tony Castricone and Jason Hamilton. The two teams have met nine times with Kansas owning an 8-1 record. Additionally, the last meeting between the pair took place at the Sprint Center as part of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic.
The Coach
Head Coach Mike Hopkins is starting his first year at Washington, and first as a head coach becoming the 19th head coach in UW history. After spending 22 years as an assistant at Syracuse, Hopkins oversaw teams that reached the NCAA Tournament 16 times including the 2003 National Championship, four Final Fours, five Elite Eights and 10 Sweet 16s along with four NIT berths. Syracuse never dipped below a 55.0 percent record while Hopkins was on staff.

• Thybulle is the first player to have 5 blocks and 3 steals in a game since Matthew Bryan Amaning recorded 7 blocks and 4 steals on Feb. 19, 2011 at Arizona.
• The Huskies had four players pull down six boards for the second time this season and the second time in the last three games (UC Davis & Omaha).
• Thybulle knocked away five blocks against Omaha, which is the most by a Husky since Malik Dime had six against Cal State Fullerton on Nov. 17, 2016
• Over the last two games, freshman Hameir Wright has averaged 10 points and five rebounds while hitting all five career 3-pointers, compared to his first six games where he averaged 0.3 ppg and 1.0 rpg
• David Crisp's season-high 24 points against Omaha were his most since his career-high 31 at Utah (Feb. 11, 2017) ... he now is one of three players this season with a 20+ scoring effort joining Dickerson and Nowell and one of five current players with a 20+ scoring game in their career
•UW is shooting 82.4 percent from the FT line in final five minutes of its eight games and that goes up to 86.2 percent in the final two minutes ... UW has not been that efficient from the FT line during those two spans since at least 2002-03 (stats not kept as well before that)
• Additionally, Jaylen Nowell is shooting 92.3 percent during the final 2 minutes of each game (12-13) while David Crisp is 8-of-10 in that span
• Junior Noah Dickerson is currently leading the team in FG percentage at 67.2 (41-61) ... as a sophomore Dickerson shot 54.7 percent (93-199) and as a freshman he shot 46.7 (146-267)
• UW has had 10 or more steals in four of its eight games ... last season Washington recorded just three total games of 10 or more steals in 31 outings ... the last season UW had five games with 10 or more steals was 2015-16 (5) and prior to that it was 2009-10 (9).
• Washington leads the league in steals at 9.1 per game, which also ranks tied for 26th nationally
