SEATTLE – Washington kept it rolling, winning their sixth-straight game, defeating Seattle U., 102-69. The Dawgs continued their prolific scoring in the early season, winning at KeyArena while scoring in triple digits for the second-straight game, something no Husky team had even done.
Washington (6-1) shot 49.3 percent (36-73) for the game as five players finished in double figures. Kelsey Plum led the Dawgs with 20 points and a season-best eight assists to go with a career-best seven steals. Talia Walton and Jazmine Davis added 19 points each, while Aminah Williams earned her third double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
The fifth Husky in double figures was Khalia Lark who came off the bench to score 10 points on a perfect 3-3 from the field, 2-2 from 3-point range and 2-2 from the foul line. Washington made 13 3-pointers for the game as seven different Dawgs connected from distance. Walton and Davis led the Huskies with three triples apiece.
The Dawgs also dominated the glass as Mathilde Gilling contributed a career-best 10 rebounds in just 15 minutes of action. Overall, the Dawgs edge on the glass was 50-33 and included 19 offensive rebounds, including six apiece from both Williams and Gilling.
The Dawgs jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Washington's first four field goals were 3-pointers as they went on to shoot 7-17 from distance in the half. Walton had the hot hand early, making 5-10, including three 3's for 13 points at the break. Davis was also in double figures at the half with 10, while Williams nearly had a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds.
The Dawgs crushed the Redhawks on the glass, holding a 29-15 edge at the half, including ripping down 12 offensive rebounds. Along with nine from Williams, Walton and Gilling each had five boards at the break.
Leading by nine at the half, the Dawgs immediately went to work extending the margin. Plum's 3-pointer from the top of the key with 15:46 to go gave the Dawgs a 59-42 lead, their biggest margin of the game to that point.
The Huskies would pour it on from there, building a 32-point lead with 4:08 to play after two Kelli Kingma free throws. Washington would score 58 points after the break to eclipse the century mark yet again. The Dawgs have also scored at least 80 points in every game this season and are averaging 88.7 points per game.
The win was the fourth-straight for the Huskies over the Redhawks since the teams renewed their rivalry with Seattle U. returning to Division-I.
Next up for the Dawgs is a trip down I-5 to face Portland on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Washington will look to avenge the only loss in program history to the Pilots last season, 91-77.
