Opening Statement
I felt like more than anything, our true style of play showed in that second half. Clearly, in overtime, we were showing the balance of scoring. To go into halftime with zero offensive boards and to end up with 15, this team is so resilient and I'm just so proud of their effort. It was a total, total team effort. Defense does it. We are just a solid, solid defensive team. To be able to capitalize and compliment that, with some offensive scoring attack, is just absolutely amazing.
On how her team showed their true style of play tonight
The way we shared the ball, the way we were moving, the way we answered the call. When they have to change their defense, and we're talking about a style of play that doesn't typically change much; when they have to change their defense, you know we're in control. They went box-and-one before [Kristi Kingma] got hot, because they could sense where we were going. Post was getting a nice high-low attack, which means she's going to get open. When that happens, that's when we knew we had control.
Feelings on the Game
On the final shot
Yeah. I saw her go after that rebound and I thought just get into a spot she can see me. She was diving to the floor and we made eye contact for a split second and she just threw it up and I caught it and it went in. It is just a good feeling. I thought we were tied at that point, and I looked up and we were up one. We could have made a stop there but we had really good momentum going into the overtime.
On Nia Jackson and her knee From a guards perspective she was limping, but on offense, she was still super quick. She obviously at the end of the game didn't look like she was injured. She got the ball and went straight to the hoop. She was still doing her thing, but I think the place that got her was defensively. We were able to go to her side and she was a little bit slow rotating and that's when Regina and Mack got off.
On the Last Shot
I would have said we actually practiced that. No, I just saw her. As I was falling down, I saw her. Me and Kristi know each other and know where we are going to be on the floor. I knew that someone was coming to me, and more than likely it was Kristi.
On what turned the game around
I would say our offensive rebounds. In the first half we didn't have any, and then our second half we had fifteen. I would say that was big for us.
On the game
I felt like we had a great performance and we finished. We finished strong and we are just going to keep doing that. Our defense was on point. We were getting stops and steals. And our offense was on point as well.
