Four Huskies Earn All-Pac-10 Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Senior outside hitters Kindra Carlson and Becky Perry, who after four years are separated by just five career kills, were honored today as members of the All-Pac-10 Team for women's volleyball, as the conference office announced its selections. It is the second career selections for both Carlson and Perry.
Senior setter Jenna Hagglund and junior middle blocker Bianca Rowland both received honorable mention as well. The awards are based on a vote by the conference head coaches. The top 14 vote getters make up the first team and remaining vote recipients are honorable mentnion.
Carlson was named All-Pac-10 for the second year in a row. An Eaton, Colorado native, Carlson is one of the most productive rightside hitters in the country. She ranks fifth in the Pac-10 in kills per set with 4.06, and third in aces per set with 0.31. Her 4.82 points-per-set average is 22nd nationally. She also has career-highs this year in attack percentage (.311), digs per set (2.02), and blocks per set (0.88). She was an AVCA Second Team All-American last year and ranks ninth in school history in career kills with 1,186.
Perry was last named to the All-Pac-10 Team in 2008. The Austin, Texas product is right behind Carlson on the UW career kills list in 10th with 1,181. Her 3.75 kills/set average ranks 10th in the Pac-10, making Washington the only conference team with two hitters in the top-10 in kills. Her 341 kills this season are a single-season career best. She also has career-high averages in aces (0.21/set) and digs (2.03/set). Her 4.35 points-per-set average is ninth-best in the Pac-10.
Hagglund was an All-Pac-10 Team member a year ago and was also honorable mention in 2008. Only one setter, Cal's Carli Lloyd, made the top-14 after Hagglund was the only one to make it a year ago. The West Chester, Ohio native is 10th in Pac-10 history in career assists and second in UW history with 5,177. With 11.81 assists per set, she ranks second in the Pac-10 and 10th in the NCAA. Hagglund was also a Pac-10 All-Academic Second Team member and Lowe's Senior CLASS Award finalist.
Rowland earns honorable mention for the second year in a row. Her .403 attack percentage is third in the Pac-10 and 11th nationally, and she has upped her offensive production to a career-best 2.66 kills per set. Rowland, who hails from Lynnwood, Wash., also is eighth in the conference with 1.10 blocks per set.
11th-ranked Washington is on the verge of a ninth-straight NCAA Championship appearance, as it will host Michigan in the first round on Thursday night at 7:30 at Hec Edmundson Pavilion. If UW wins it will face the winner of Hawaii and Portland State on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. also at Hec Ed.
