Washington Head Coach, Tia Jackson
"I'm really proud of the effort our girls displayed. They played considerably different in the second half and I really didn't want that game to come to an end. They really stuck it out but it was ASU. They came out and gave us a little bit but our kids never said die. I'm very proud of them."
On not having Emily Florence in the game...
"Not having both of these two women (Florence and Plouffe) in the game was a huge minus especially in the second half when it's a different ball game. But we definitely needed their presence out on the floor. As much as they were cheering for the people out on the floor and as much as they were our biggest cheerleaders, their presence was needed."
On if ASU was a tough match-up...
"I don't think it was a tough match-up for us. I think that ASU has proven that they are a solid team against everyone in the Pac-10. But I think our players for the most part stepped up to the challenge and when I look at the stat sheet, it wasn't just their post players, they had balance all the way through. Yes, their post players were solid, but they have been solid all year."
On if sitting out made her lose her edge...
"If anything it made me want to get out there more. Be more aggressive. I just kept getting into foul trouble and I've never really been in that situation all year so it was tough on me. My teammates stepped up huge."
On thought process of second half...
"I really tried to bring a lot of energy out on the court, trying to do anything I could to go out there and get the energy going. I thought we were intense when we started, but going into the second half we needed to bring up our intensity on defense and get some offense going."
On sitting out...
"I think my teammates feed off me defensively so I'm trying to cheer from the bench but I really wanted to be on the court."
On if this season was a good season...
"No, obviously. No one wants to be below .500. The goal is always to win. I don't know if I would look back and say I regret it because of the experience and opportunity, but I think this is preparing us for the years to come. It was a growing and building year and a good start."
