With Sunday's win, Washington clinches the No. 6 seed for next week's Pac-10 tournament and knocks California out of contention for a first place finish in the Pac-10. Washington improves to 40-11 all-time against California (21-3 at home), and has won five out of the last six meetings against the Bears.
The Huskies' last win against ranked opponent came against then-ranked #20 California (79-76 OT) on Feb. 8, 2007. UW's last win against an opponent ranked in the top-10 came against #10 Stanford (77-72) on Dec. 22, 2005.
In her final home game at Bank of America Arena, senior point guard Emily Florence recorded the first double-double of her career, matching a career high with 11 rebounds -including seven in the first half and 5 total offensive boards - and scoring 11 points on 3-7 shooting.
Sophomore guard Sami Whitcomb led all scorers with 24 points on 8-14 shooting (5-9 from behind the arc). Whitcomb's five three pointers matches a career high, a mark she set last against UCLA on Feb. 10, 2008.
