With Friday's loss, Washington falls to 14-34 all-time against Stanford (9-13 at home), and has now lost the last five-straight meetings against the Cardinal. The last win in the series for Washington over the Cardinal came in Seattle, Dec. 22 2005 (77-72) when Stanford was ranked 10th in the nation.
After the Huskies cut Stanford's lead to two at the end the first period, the Cardinal opened the second half with a 12-0 run, spanning the first 3:42. The Huskies were 0-9 from the field until Katelan Redmon scored the first points of the second half for the Huskies with a made jumper with 14:17 remaining.
After a first half that saw ten lead changes and four ties, Stanford never trailed after their 12-0 run to open the second half.
Stanford senior guard Candice Wiggins registered her second double-double of the year and her Pac-10 leading 13th game scoring over 20 points, with 22 points and 10 rebounds. She has now scored 2,400 points for her career and is just 15 points shy of eclipsing Lisa Leslie's Pac-10 record of 2,414 career points.
Washington committed a season-low nine turnovers, with their previous low of 12 coming at Oregon on Feb. 2, 2008.
The Huskies held a 24-13 rebounding advantage in the first half - thanks in part to 14 offensive rebounds - and kept all Stanford players without a rebound until Candice Wiggins grabbed a board with 10:23 remaining in the period.
Senior forward Andrea Plouffe finished with 11 points, nine of which came in the first half, marking the tenth time she has scored in double-figures this season.
Washington shot just 18.9% (7-37, 1-11 from 3-point range) in the second half, compared to 35.9% (14-39) in the first half. Washington attempted a season-high 76 field-goals, but was only able to convert on 21 of those attempts (28%).
