With Friday's win, Washington improves to 37-38 all-time against Oregon (21-11 at home), and has now won the last 6-straight meetings against the Ducks at Bank of America Arena.
Sophomore forward Laura McLellan registered a career high 14 points on a 6-8 shooting from the floor, with 9 of her points coming in the first half. This also marks the first time that McLellan has lead the team in scoring this season.
With her five assists, senior point guard Emily Florence takes over sole possession of sixth place on Washington's career assists list, surpassing former Husky Laura Merlin (369). Florence also played the full forty minutes for the Huskies.
The Huskies were able to pull out the victory after trailing at halftime for just the second time this season and now improve to just 2-13 when under such circumstances.
Washington outscored the Ducks 22-11 on bench points thanks in large part to McLellan's career high 14 points.
Trailing by 7 (48-55) with 6:36 to play the Huskies mounted a 13-3 run ending at the 1:13 mark. The Huskies took the 61-58 lead following five straight points from Sami Whitcomb, who sank a three pointer followed by a steal, foul and two made free-three throws.
Washington led for just 1:26 in the second half after taking the lead for good on a Whitcomb three-pointer with 1:26 to play.
UW was 0-8 from three-point range in the second-half until Sami Whitcomb's trey at 1:26 to give UW the lead for good.
Trailing by seven (8-15) at the 14:20 mark in the first half, the Huskies mounted an 11-0 run over the next 5:09 to take the lead 19-15. Following an Oregon 3-pointer on their next possession, no team would lead by more than three points for the remainder of the half. The remaining 8:43 would also see a total of 8 lead changes, with a total of 11 lead changes and one tie coming in the first half alone.
