Washington's 23 points at halftime were a season-low for the first half. The team's previous low was a 29-point output at Arizona on Dec. 27.
The win was the first for the Huskies when trailing at the half. They are now 1-4 in that situation this year.
The game also marked the first time this year that the Huskies have not put two players in double-digits in the scoring column. Giuliana Mendiola was the UW's only double-digit scorer, with 14.
After opening the game on a 15-4 run, the Huskies watched Cal score the next 16 consecutive points, a scoreless drought that lasted for six minutes and 45 seconds, before Angie Jones put back at teammate's miss at the 2:35 mark.
Ironically, after snapping Cal's 16-0 run, Washington mounted a sizeable run of its own, outscoring the Golden Bears by a 42-18 margin over 17:55 spanning the first and second halves.
California was held to just three field goals over the first 9:28 of the second half.
Meanwhile, Washington made as many baskets - three - in the first 2:01 of the second half as it did in the final 9:20 of the first half.
Washington's defense forced 20 turnovers, while allowing just 21 field goals. The Husky offense, meanwhile, proved opportunistic, converting those turnovers into 21 points.
The two teams combined to attempt just 17 free throws. By comparison, in the Huskies' two previous games, against Arizona State and Arizona, there were a total of 54 and 41 free throws attempted, respectively.
With the win, the Huskies extended their streak of Pac-10 home victories to 10.
