Today's 73-49 win marked the Huskies 14th-straight home victory, and capped the end of an undefeated home season (14-0). It was the first time the Dawgs have gone undefeated at home since 1990 when UW also went 14-0. This year also marked the first undefeated home season during head coach June Daugherty's seven-year career.
The 13 Pac-10 victories this year is the most ever for Coach Daugherty. She reached 12 Pac-10 victories three previous times at Washington.
Today's victory was Washington's 16th straight win over WSU. The last time the Cougars beat the Huskies was on February 25, 1995 in Pullman by a score of 71-68.
Giuliana Mendiola continued her All-America campaign by racking up a team high 20 points and 6 rebounds. Mendiola has scored at least 20 points in seven of the last 10 games. She also recorded a career-high five steals vs. Washington State, surpassing her previous high of four set twice before.
Gioconda Mendiola grabbed a career-high six rebounds, surpassing her previous career high of four which she set twice.
Loree Payne already holds the school career record for made three point shots with 242, and as of today she also holds the mark for most career three point shot attempts with 713. She surpassed Megan Franza who had 708 attempts during her career at Washington.
This year's average attendance of 4,981 (14 home games) at Bank of America Arena eclipsed the previous Washington record of 4,579 established in 1994. UW's average attendance of 4,981 also leads the Pac-10 this season.
Today's attendance of 6,530 is the second highest attendance in the WSU-UW series. The highest attendance in this rivalry was 6,608 set on January 28, 1994 at Hec-Ed Pavilion. Washington won that game by a score of 82-64.
At halftime, the Cougars' turnover total surpassed their point total. WSU committed 18 turnovers, while scoring 17 points.
WSU's 33 turnovers were the most by a UW opponent this season. The previous high was 31 by St. Bonaventure, Nov. 29.
Today marks the second time this season a Husky opponent has been held scoreless from behind the three-point line. The Cougars were 0-2 from three-point field goal range, while the UW held Cal to an 0-5 mark on Feb. 15.
UW tallied a season high 24 steals in today's game, which is still well shy of UW single-game record 34 steals in a 90-41 romp over Seattle Pacific University on December 2, 1997.
