Washington's 83-56 win improved its record in 2002 to 7-1, the team's best start since opening the 1997 season with 10 consecutive wins.
Including tonight's 27-point victory, the Huskies have now posted an average margin of 23.9 points in its seven wins, including a 32-point margin in their four home victories.
All-America candidate Giuliana Mendiola equaled her career-high with eight assists, sparking Washington to a 26-assist output. The game is the Huskies' fifth this year with at least 20 assists. Eleven players recorded at least one assist for Washington, while San Francisco recorded just nine assists total.
Including tonight's contest, Mendiola is now averaging a remarkable 5.6 assists per game, opposite just 2.75 turnovers, just over a 2:1 ratio.
Washington forced San Francisco into 22 turnovers, the fifth time this season that Husky opponents have reached the 20-turnover mark. In all, the Huskies have forced an average of 20.6 turnovers per game.
After falling behind 12-6 just over three minutes into the game, the Huskies scored seven consecutive points - all by senior Emily Autrey - and 12 of the next 15 points to open a 25-17 lead with 7:46 to play in the half. A brief 7-4 run by USF cut the lead to five with six minutes to play, but Washington ripped off 10 consecutive poins to spark a 19-2 run to end the half.
Senior guard Loree Payne tied for the UW team-lead with 16 points, marking her sixth-consecutive game with at least 14 points. Payne had failed to reach double-digits in scoring in just one of UW's eight games.
The Huskies' 10 fouls were a season low. No Husky player was charged with more than two fouls.
Washington hit just seven three-point field goals in tonight's game, snapping a remarkable streak of five-consecutive games with at least 10 three-pointers. The team's seven threes equaled their second-lowest of the season.
