Washington Men's Tennis Team Claws Past Northwestern Wildcats

SEATTLE - - In the first day of play at the Great Northwest Shootout the Washington men's tennis team, ranked 27, defeated the Northwestern Wildcats(74) in the Nordstrom Tennis Center, improving their record to 5 -1. The Huskies took the doubles point and won 6 out of the seven singles matches.
It was a great day for the Husky freshman. In singles play, freshman Matt Hanlin, UW(65) defeated Brad Erickson 6-7(6), 6-3, 6-2. Freshman Ari Strasberg came from behind in a great finish, defeating Jackie Jenkins 6-3, 1-6, 7-6(4).
Also in action today, Michigan(32) defeated Tulsa(41). Tulsa will play Northwestern starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow, while the UW men will play Michigan starting at 2 p.m. in the final day of the Great Northwest Shootout.
