Dan Tacheny is entering his second season at the University of Washington going into the 2022-23 women's basketball season.
Tacheny made his first foray into women’s college basketball at Washington during the 2021-22 season, after building an impressive coaching resume in multiple professional leagues, including the NBA, G-League and international levels.
Tacheny was Associate Head Coach for the Capital City Go-Go’s, which is the Washington Wizards’ G-League team. He started with the Go-Go’s in September of 2019. He also had stops in the G-League with the Greensboro Swarm (2018-19 season) and Delaware 87ers (2016-18).
Prior to working in the G-League, Tacheny honed his coaching chops in the NBA, working in several roles. He spent two seasons (2015 and 2016) as the Coordinator of Player Development for the Washington Wizards and started his career as an advance scout and video coordinator with the Orlando Magic (2004-06) and Minnesota Timberwolves (2007-09).
Tacheny has head coaching experience with four years (2009-14) spent in the Mexican professional leagues. He amassed the highest winning percentage for a coach in the league’s history, with Rayos de Hermosillo of the Circuito de Baloncesto de la Costa del Pacifico (CIBACOPA).
Tacheny is from Mankato, Minn. and attended high school at Mankato Loyola. He graduated from UNLV with a degree in criminal justice. He and his wife, Sabrina, have a daughter, Jasmine.
