Santiago joined the University of Washington Olympic Strength & Conditioning staff on August 2017. He is responsible for the Men’s Soccer and Track & Field teams. Perez came to Washington after serving as an Athletic Performance Coach at Tangra Elite Athletics in Austin, Texas where he worked with Volleyball, Soccer, Track & Field, Football, and Basketball athletes. Previous to Tangra Elite Athletics, he spent 18 months at Torres Elite Training in Asuncion, Paraguay, working with athletes of various sports. During that time, he was also the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Sol de America Track & Field Club.
Santiago also has experience working at Velocity Sports Performance and EXOS in Los Angeles, Calif. in addition to serving as the Assistant Performance Training Coach for former MLS team Chivas USA in 2010, and working with Track & Field athletes at the US Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. in 2009. His previous collegiate experience includes working as a Strength & Conditioning Graduate Assistant at Midwestern State University in 2008 and interning at the University of Texas in 2007.
Santiago earned his Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from Midwestern State University (2010) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Human Performance from Fort Hays State University (2008) where he was a Track & Field athlete (Discus, Hammer, and Shot Put).
Santiago is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association and is CPR/AED certified. He lives in Seattle with his wife Blair.
