
Huskies Host No. 13 Oregon For Three-Game Series

SEATTLE - Washington returns to Big Ten play this weekend, hosting No. 13 Oregon for a three-game series starting on Friday night at 7 p.m. The Huskies will feature on Big Ten Plus for Friday's and Sunday's contests, with Saturday's game shown on Big Ten Network. Live stats will also be available at HuskyStats.com.
This weekend features a number of promotions, including Backyard Baseball night on Saturday and Dollar Dog Day and Bark at the Park on Sunday.

SECOND SEASON UNDER SMITH
On July 9, 2024, Eddie Smith was named the 25th head coach of University of Washington baseball, announced by UW Director of Athletics Pat Chun. Smith, a native of Olympia, Washington, comes to Montlake after three seasons at Utah Valley. Smith begins his second season at the helm of the Huskies in 2026.

HUSKIES DOWN THE EAGLES
The Huskies earned a thrilling 6-4 win over Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, taking down the Eagles with a go-ahead ninth inning home run from Sam DeCarlo. The Huskies jumped in front first, scoring one in the first inning and two more in the third to open up a 3-0 lead.
Washington held the Eagles at bay for much of the game, but in the sixth, the hosts found some offense. Eastern Michigan scored on a three-run home run to tie the game. Two innings later, the same player homered again to put Eastern Michigan ahead 4-3. With two on and one out in the top of the ninth inning, Sam DeCarlo stepped up to the plate. On a 1-2 count, the senior shortstop belted the ball to deep right field, firing the Huskies back in front. It was DeCarlo's sixth home run of the year and put Washington back in the driver's seat.
Gunnar Nichols slammed the door in the ninth, forcing three popouts to center field to secure the victory. Nichols was credited with the win after pitching the final 1.1 innings of the game. He allowed one hit and struck out one batter.
B1G WIN OVER MICHIGAN
Washington claimed the win on Sunday over Michigan, taking the series finale 7-5.
Michigan struck first with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning, but the Huskies punched back in the third. Braeden Terry blasted a towering two-run home run to right field to put Washington in front. Mic Paul added another Husky homer in the following inning, tagging a solo shot to right field. Paul's third home run of the season went 372 feet and gave the Huskies a two-run advantage.
After a sacrifice fly from DeCarlo made it 4-1 in favor of Washington, the Wolverines found some offense. They scored one run in the fifth and one in the sixth to bring it back to a one-run game. Washington responded in the seventh, however, scoring three runs to extend the lead to four. Aidan Dougherty punctuated the inning with an RBI single to conclude the Husky scoring on the day.
Hayden Lewis was credited with the win, going 6.0 innings with nine hits allowed, three runs, one walk, and three strikeouts. Jack Wade and Tommy Brandenburg combined to throw the final three innings, giving up a combined one hit, two runs with five walks and two strikeouts.
DAWGS ON THE BIG SCREEN
Washington and UCLA will have all three of their games broadcast on Big Ten Network, the conference announced. The series, which will be Washington's final three home games of the season, are set to take place on Thursday, May 14, Friday, May 15, and Saturday, May 16.
With the move to linear television, the game times have also been adjusted. Both Thursday's and Friday's games will begin at 6 p.m. PT while Saturday's game will start at 12 p.m. PT.
LET KENNEY COOK
Noah Kenney has set career-high marks over the last few weeks, most recently setting a new career-high for innings pitched against Michigan State. The junior threw into the ninth frame on Friday, finishing with 8.1 innings under his belt just two weeks after setting a career-high mark of 7.0 innings.
During week eight of the season,Kenney was named to the Baseball America National Team of the Week. He diced up Valparaiso, leading the Huskies to a 6-0 shutout win with a career-high 14 strikeouts. It's the second award recognition of the season for the Parker, Colo. native after he was named to the College Baseball Foundation's Pitcher of the Year watch list.
Kenney has had a strong campaign so far which has garnered him the national attention. He's collected four wins in his nine starts and has the most innings pitched (64.2) and strikeouts (72) of any Husky. The right-hander has 11 appearances and 10 starts this year, pitching more than four innings each time he's taken the mound. Among his starts, he's thrown at least five innings in each, including at least six in each of his last five games.
HOTCHKISS ON A HEATER
Jackson Hotchkiss has been on an absolute tear this season. After missing the month of February due to injury, he's made 32 starts in March and April and been the best offensive output for Washington. He's tallied a .353 batting average while scoring 36 runs on 48 hits, all team-high marks. He has the most home runs on the team (14) and is pacing the Huskies in slugging percentage (.735) and on base percentage (.417). His home run total also ranks 46th in the NCAA.
Hotchkiss has also been one of the best hitters in the Big Ten, ranking in the top 15 in the conference in homes runs per game, total home runs, batting average, slugging percentage, hits per game, RBIs per game, and runs per game.
SWISS ARMY BRANDENBURG
As both a starter and a reliever, Tommy Brandenburg has been strong option for the Huskies on the bump this season. Brandenburg currently leads the team with four saves. He's also claimed two wins on the season and leads the team in total appearances at 18, 16 of which have been in relief, also leading the team.
His four saves this year rank 99th in the NCAA and seventh in the Big Ten.
CERTIFIED BAG GETTERS
Washington has stolen 66 bags this season, the third-most in the Big Ten. Mic Paul leads the team, stealing safely on 11 of his 12 attempts while Sam DeCarlo and Blake Wilson each have nine steals on 11 tries. Aidan Dougherty has seven steals and Hotchkiss and Landon Young both have six. Washington's opponents have stolen only 37 times and have been thrown out on 15 attempts.
HUSKY HURLERS
The Husky pitching staff ranks among the top teams in a number of pitching metrics. They're ranked 68th in walks allowed per nine innings (4.04), 70th in WHIP (1.45), 73rd in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.20), 83rd in hits allowed per nine innings (8.98), and 85th in strikeouts per nine innings (8.90).
Washington also tied a season-high 17 strikeouts last Tuesday against Portland, the third time this season the Huskies have fanned 17 batters. 17 strikeouts is the most the Huskies have had in a single game since April 9, 2021 (20 Ks vs. ASU).
TRIPLE THREAT
The Huskies have knocked 15 triples this season, the most in the Big Ten and the ninth-most in the NCAA. Braeden Terry and Blake Wilson lead the way with three, Sam DeCarlo, Mic Paul, and Colton Bower each have two while Casen Taggart, Landon Young and Jackson Hotchkiss each have one. The Huskies are averaging .34 triples per game, the 15th-most in the nation.
Blake Wilson and Braeden Terry both rank 59th in the NCAA in total triples.
HOME RUN HUSKIES
Washington has brought the boom this season to the tune of 52 homers, the ninth-most in the Big Ten and the 76th-most in the NCAA. Jackson Hotchkiss leads the way with 14, Colton Bower has 10, and Daniel Porras and Sam DeCarlo have six.
Washington has recorded at least one home run in each of the last eight games and 11 of the last 12. The Huskies have slugged four home runs in a game on three occasions this season, most recently at Minnesota on April 10, the first game of a double header.

- Jackson Hotchkiss launched his 14th home run of the season over the weekend against Michigan, setting a new career high. He currently ranks 46th in the NCAA in total home runs despite missing the first month of the season.
- Hotchkiss leads the team in batting average (.351), slugging percentage (.740), on base percentage (.417), runs scored (35), hits (46), home runs (14) and RBIs (32).
- Jackson Hotchkiss knocked Washington's 15th triple of the season against Portland, the ninth-most in the NCAA. Washington is averaging 0.38 triples per game, the second most in the Big Ten.
- The Diamond Dawgs took down Eastern Michigan on Tuesday to close out the road trip with a 2-2 record. Sam DeCarlo blasted a go-ahead home run in the top of the ninth to put the Huskies up 6-4 and secure the win.
