
Huskies Hit the Road for a Pair of Big Ten Matchups, Set to take on No. 54 Nebraska and No. 35 Wisconsin

SEATTLE - The University of Washington Men's Tennis Team (7-10) returns to play this weekend, from Lincoln, Nebraska, against No. 54 Nebraska (9-8) and in Madison, Wisconsin, against No. 35 Wisconsin (11-5) in a pair of Big Ten matchups. After last weekend's result against Oregon, the Huskies will look to best a pair of tough conference opponents. The matchup against the Huskers is set to take place Friday, March 27th, at 3 pm PT/ 5 pm local at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center, while the match against the Badgers is set to take place Sunday, March 29th, at 11 am PT / 1 pm local from the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Ranked Dawgs
With one week until the next ITA Ranking are set to release, Brett Pearson and Soham Purohit continue their run of Doubles rankings as they've been ranked since the August 26th preseason rankings, debuting at No. 62 while hitting a peak of No. 42. Currently, Brett and Soham are ranked the No. 89 Doubles pairing.
Husky History against the Huskers
The Huskies make their first trip to Lincoln as members of the Big Ten. This will be the 5th meeting in series history between the Huskies and Nebraska, with Washington holding a 4-2 edge in the series. Last season, the Huskies went 2-0 against Nebraska, as in the regular season matchup in Seattle, the Dawgs pulled out a 4-3 comeback win. The second matchup was from the Big Ten Quarterfinal, with another comeback win, with Soham Purohit scoring the winning point to give the Dawgs their first Big Ten Tournament win.
Husky History against the Badgers
The Huskies will make the trip to Madison as Big Ten members for the first time. This meeting will be the ninth meeting all time between the programs as the Huskies hold a 5-3 edge in the series. Last season, in the Badgers' trip to Seattle, the Huskies pulled out an impressive 4-1 victory.
Husky Stats of Note
Coming into this match, multiple Huskies have recorded their first Big Ten wins in their career history. As from Singles, Stephane Kamendje recorded a win against Purdue's Henrik Villanger, 6-2, 6-4, while Daniel Bien recorded a win against Indiana's Aryan Badlani. 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
The Huskies have had a mid-season resurgence in Doubles, as they've won two of the past three doubles points after holding a five-match doubles point drought. From this resurgence, multiple Huskies have recorded their first career Big Ten wins from Doubles as Stephane Kamendje, alongside Rohan Belday, recorded his first Big Ten Win against Purdue's Lee/Velasquesz, 6-3. Nikola Plavsic and Daniel Bien also recorded their first Big Ten doubles win, as together from the No. 2 position, defeated Oregon's Breazu/Galligan, 6-4.
Nebraska Scouting Report
Nebraska enters the Friday matchup ranked 54th with a 9-8 record, with a single player ranked No. 84 in singles. The Huskers are coming off a West Coast weekend in which they played No. 31 USC and No. 24 UCLA, dropping both by 0-4 and 0-6. Prior to these losses, Nebraska held a four-match defeat streak before snapping the streak versus Northwestern on March 15.
Wisconsin Scouting Report
Wisconsin enters the Sunday matchup ranked at 34th with an 11-5 record, with a single player ranked at No. 75 in singles. The Badgers are also coming off their West Coast weekend in which they played No. 24 UCLA and No. 31 USC, having lost both matches by a 1-6 scoreline. Prior to these losses, Wisconsin split a homestand weekend with a win against Northwestern, 4-0, followed by a loss to then No. 9 Illinois 1-4.
UP NEXT
Washington will return to Montlake next weekend for the penultimate homestand against Michigan State and Michigan. As the match against Michigan State is scheduled for Friday, April 3, at 5 pm from Bill Quillian Tennis Stadium, and the Michigan match is scheduled two days later on Sunday, the 5th, at noon from Quillian Tennis Stadium.
