Second Straight Walk-Off Win Secures Series Over Ohio State
March 15, 2026 | Baseball
SEATTLE – For the second time in as many days, Washington beat Ohio state by a score of 5-4, using a walk off play to secure the victory. The Huskies clinch their second Big Ten series of the season with the win.
Washington moves to 8-11 on the season and 4-2 in Big Ten play.
The Dawgs leaned on a strong start from Hayden Lewis in the victory. The senior right hander tossed 6.0 innings while allowing just three hits and two runs with six strikeouts.
The Huskies jumped in front with a three spot in the third inning. Sam DeCarlo singled up the middle with the bases loaded to bring home two runners before Colton Bower used a sacrifice fly to drive in one more.
Ohio State got on the board in the fourth to bring the game within one. It remained a one-run ball game until the bottom of the seventh when Bower again batted in a run, this time with an RBI single.
Ohio State answered again, however, scoring on a single in the eighth before tying the game on a solo home run in the ninth.
Washington found a response right away from their offense. Sam DeCarlo singled to center field and was pushed to third on a subsequent single from Daniel Porras.
After Ohio State talked it over with a mound visit, Colton Bower hit a 0-1 pitch to second base and Sam DeCarlo raced home to score the winning run.
Batters hitting 3-6 (Hotchkiss, DeCarlo, Porras, Bower) in the lineup were responsible for eight of Washington's 10 hits on the day, with each Husky recording two knocks. Colton Bower led the way with three RBIs while Sam DeCarlo chipped in two of his own in addition to scoring the game-winning run.
Carson Boesel earned the victory and finished his day with 3.0 innings pitched, two runs allowed on two hits, and one strikeout.
Washington returns to action on Tuesday, March 17 against Saint Martin's at Husky Ballpark to conclude the five-game homestand.
