October 12, 2026 | Women's Golf
ST ANDREWS, Scotland – The Washington women's golf team began play today at the St. Andrews Links Collegiate and got off to a strong start after wrapping up 18 holes.
The Huskies are in second place after the opening round at the Jubilee Course today, sitting six shots back from Texas (-5). Penn and host St. Andrews are tied for third as it stands now with each team five-over par.
Hannah Ounap leads the Huskies and the entire leaderboard, as the Scotland native sits six-under par with an opening round 66. She recorded an eagle on the third hole to go along with five birdies on holes 1, 5, 6, 12 and 18.
"Today was such a fun day!" said Head Coach Anna Temple. "The opportunity to compete here in St Andrews on links courses is so much fun for our players. Everyone had some truly creative shots and we've all learned so much during our time here. Hannah had a stellar round which was great to see, and we're excited for tomorrow's final round of stroke play to see who catches fire next."
Amber Li also boasts a Top-10 spot after a day of play, putting up an even par performance (72) including an eagle on the 11th hole and a pair of birdies to have her tied for 8th overall.
Mads Smith rounds out the Top-10 crew for Washington, tied for 10th place with a one-over par round (73) at Jubilee.
Wendy Tang concludes day one tied for 15th at two-over, with Athena Ni not far behind at four-over par and tied for 18th overall.
Ha Young Chang made her Husky debut at St. Andrews, rounding out the UW lineup at seven-over par and tied for 22nd on the leaderboard.
Washington will tee off for the second round at 1:30 a.m. PT. At the conclusion of tomorrow's second round, the tournament will crown the individual champion while team seeding will determine match play competition on Wednesday for the final day.
Tuesday's round will be televised on the Golf Channel starting at 6 a.m. PT and live scoring will be available at this link.
